Picture: Anthony Devlin/PA Wire QPR's Loic Remy celebrates scoring the first goal during the Barclays Premier League match at Upton Park, London. Picture: Anthony Devlin/PA Wire Saturday, January 19, 2013 10:06 PM QPR boss Harry Redknapp hopes to combine his record signing of Loic Remy with Bobby Zamora, who could return from injury next week. . .. The perpetrator of that strike against the run of play was Remy, who was played in by Adel Taarabt, the playmaker with whom he linked well throughout. âIt was good to see him score in his first game,â Redknapp said. âI thought at that stage of the game he and Taarabt were going to do a bit of damage today. âHe (Remy) will do that. Heâs got great movement off the ball and if you can get people to slide him in when he makes those runs, he will get in because heâs got lightning pace and he will score some goals. Heâll do okay. âWe havenât had any pace up front. If I can get Bobby fit, next week he could be around and ready to play, I think Zamora and Remy could be a real good partnership.â
We have got some good results playing only 1 up front. Is it right to unsettle things? How will we line up in midfield?
I'm afraid if Harry decides to this, Adel will go on the left wing and and more important imo our 2 CM will get overrun in every match. Harry would like the partnership of Mba and M'Vila in 4-4-2 for sure
I hope hes not expecting to play Remy on the right. The formation is fine but the midfield are not getting forward. They have to support the lone man. We need Granero or Faurlin in the middle and Hoilett on the left.
Agree 100%. And having the midfield stay back means every match is defensive like the Alamo. In many ways, the best sort of defence is attack
Every time I watch a different side like Reading or Saints, they put 4 or 5 in the box every time they have a chance to get it in there, we always have 1 or sometimes even 0 and thats why we never score more than a goal per game. eg Readings 2nd goal had nothing to do with skill, a mishit shot went straight to Le Fondre who rifled it in, that would never happen for us because it would be 1 against 5 defenders. Of course the only time we get more than 1 in the box is at set pieces and they are awful.
Diamond formation? Adel behind Bobby and Remy, with 3 more defensive midfielders. Narrow, yes, but you can't be all things at once! We would be very good through the middle. With the following: Bobby .... Remy ......Taarabt.... ...M'Bia .... Derry/Diakete ..........M'Vila........ Back four plus Cesar. Just an idea.
I dont see that working, maybe a 532/352 with wingbacks -----Zamora---Ramy -------Taarabt ---Granero----Faurlin Traore-------------Fabio ----Mbia--Hill--Onuoha Bring in Park for Taarabt if we need to go more defensive.
Yep, dead right. And even with the mean defence that Harry's created, if we don't offer more going forward, we aren't going to win the games needed to stay up.
Agree. With the players we have now Remy and Zamora wouldn't get the ball enough, we'd be overrun in midfield.
At home against lesser teams we should play 442 and push up the flanks. We need to beat teams from now on, so we need to attack.
Harry is picking the team and formation according to the opposition, it'll be more of the same next time against City. When we have the players in to be more attacking against lesser opposition we'll do it. It's a sensible approach to nick odd points and protect our goal difference...
