I enjoyed the game. Stoke came with a very negative game plan and they were very hard to break down. Cometh the hour, cometh the man, and it was great to see young Ben Davies grab his first Premiership goal, which opened the game up. After that it could and should have been 3 or 4 nil. I was hugely disappointed with their late goal, but on the other hand I told my son that he had just seen England football legend Michael Owen score his 150th Premiership goal right in front of us - so I consoled myself with the fact that a little bit of football history won't go amiss - thats why we want to be in the Premiership after all
I really hope there's a way to keep DG and buy KJ. Flog Moore and Lita, terminate shekters loan too. Free up the funds Huw! Today I thought ML got it spot on. Back to attacking, dominating football with a freshly rested first team. Fair play to Ki he has really stepped up recently. Still better going forwards than defending deep imo. Some of his through balls were excellent, if only he was quicker to shoot when the chance arises. Impressed by Davies (again) - he gets better every single game! Taylor will be 2nd choice at this rate of development. Good on him. Pablo had some nice ideas but they didn't seem to come off enough today. Good to see him look sharper though, this was a nice run out to get him to 100% sharpness just in time for the Chelsea game. Routs was outstanding today, he looks full of ideas, running and attacking. Who is Scott Sinclair anyway? Other than left back for citeh! JDG looked good again, he is getting better all the time and so pleased he scored two. He has to join full time in the summer surely? I've noticed that he looks better when Michu plays deeper in the AM role, they seem to to play quicker 1-2's and find space faster. All the defence were solid but then they had little to do, Rangel spent most of the match in Stokes 18yd box. Stoke offered little threat which meant that we didn't get to see what KJ can do (thankfully). Finally we can look forward to the second leg of the semi final. I fancy ML to have us defend more like in the last few games, not just because we are protecting a valuable lead but because chelsea will come out of the blocks and try to snatch something early. If we can absorb their pressure and maybe even grab something on the break in the first half then Wembley is calling. Woohoo!!!
Oh Ivor! I'm disappointed!! I thought you were going to go a whole post without a negative comment, but you ruined it with the last paragraph! Ah well, better luck next time
That stupid defence of ours! Don't they realise the importance of goal difference? It could cost us millions at the end of the season. It's about time they got their act together for the whole 90 minutes and not just part of it!!!!! Just for you, Aswan.
Good work from the lads today nice to see excellent goals from our other players being added . Routs can turn it on when he gets in the groove mom.
You need to snap out of that small club mentality phill, this season(like any other)for every Premier League club is about finishing as high in the table as possible. If you think Laudrup's/Rodgers team talks are about finishing higher than Liverpool/Swansea you're mental, both managers(as with the rest of the Prem managers)want to do well against every club they play and to keep their jobs. Let it go phill and move on.
