Below are the remaining points we shall get IMO WINS Naawich - HOME Saints - AWAY Villa - AWAY Wigan - HOME Reading - AWAY Newcastle - HOME DRAWS Sunderland - HOME Fulham - AWAY Stoke - HOME If we get the points above, then any additional points will take us to last season's total and above. Can't see 17th needing over 35 points. 2010/11 - 35pts safe 2009/10 - 31pts safe 2008/09 - 35pts safe 2007/08 - 36pts safe 2004/05 - 34pts safe 2003/04 - 34pts safe
What about last season? 37 wasn't it? You're right Stamford, people keep talking about 40 points but 38 is the magic number IMO.
We have a habit of not winning the games we might expect to so I can't see it being anywhere near as easy as this.
I knew there was one time that it was over 38 but was there another? Since it was 20 teams? Tis very rare.
1996/1997 Coventry needed 41 points to stay up, two teams below them finished on 40 pts! This season, I think you have it right 38 points will probably be necessary.
Just to complete Swords question about points needed, as well as 96/97, 40 pts were also required in 97/98 and 43 pts in 02/03 to stay up. It won't come to that this season ( he says hopefully)....
Where you getting this from Twins? Have you a photographic memory of sumfink?!!! Och sure out of 18 or so years, it happened only twice! I'd say 36 plus a decent goal difference will do it this year.
maybe I nuts but even though we're bottom Ive always had a gut feeling this year we would survive. If we don't I reckon I need a trip to the doctors with my gut feeling. Luckily for me I book the doctors appointment at the start of the season as this was the earliest appointment I could get......
9's you do know how to give a man a heart attack......The City games on TUESDAY week (29th)...i thought i had seriously f***** up my shift swapping
And if we get the extra points we need to get to 38, we will probably have a better goal diff than a fair few of the other teams.......
In the first season of the Premier League in 92/93 Palace were relegated with 49 points from 42 games, the highest ever total from 42 games...
