Juve bosses have sent scouts to several recent Wigan games and are ready to bid up to ã10m for the winger, whose contract has just over 12 months to run. Charles N'Zogbia Sunderland are also interested in the 24-year-old, who has been a target for his old club Newcastle and Birmingham this season. But Wigan manager Roberto Martinez remains hopeful N'Zogbia, a ã6m signing from Newcastle in January 2009, could be persuaded to stay, if the threat of relegation is averted. Downing may change his mind if Young and Warnock leave, they'd struggle to get a replacement anywhere near Youngs class. Dzudzak's said many times he wants to go Spain, i don't think for a second we'll even move for him, but he's ****ing class. I could see Downing happening though, definitely.
I really rate Downing, i like how direct he is. It's hard to find a good left footer with pace, really hard. Look at the PL, try and think of pacey, decent natural left mids. Zog, Downing, Ben Arfa....brick wall. There are others, but few of a great standard.
Think we have a better chance signing him that most clubs. With Brucie as manager and his m8s Cattermole & Bramble.
