We need an out and out striker. From the commentary on Sky sports Berbatov kept dropped too deep so we have no one on the shoulder of the defence. It is feasible to say that we could play 4 - 2 - 1 - 2- 1, with Berbatov and Ruiz sitting behind Petric or a new striker. It may be wasting their talents but we need someone to put some shots in on goal.

Here here. I don't think we were as bad as we have been, but we were playing a team better than us to the tune of £300m (or whatever it is).

The game just confirmed what we were already aware of really. Really hope Steklenberg comes in.

Add it on the wish list but probably you will receive none...

Glad I was not the only one to spot this. We get the ball just out of the box and there is nobody in there to pass it on!!

Caught cold at the start and Schwarzer should have done better -

    http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/manchester-city-2-fulham-0-2/

However, then had a decent first half and I was actually quite optimistic. The team were working for each other - just as an example Dejagah in an unusual position on the left. The old problems however re-surfaced in the second; slow, slow, pass square, pass back, slow.

We can’t use the tiredness excuse with four players not having played midweek (I‘m including Duff since he wasn‘t on for long), so the reason must be tactics. We’re all agreed that new input is required but for the moment Jol needs to recognise that the current system is not working.

He certainly has acknowledged the obvious when he said after the game,

"We are already sucked into a relegation battle. To have gained points here today would have been a bonus, but we couldn't.
"There are eight of nine of us down there in the relegation battle, and we need four or five wins."

The quality is there to sort things out but we need more discipline and structure to our play.

Cottager the problem is that our system currently does not work against any team.

    Possession which comes to nothing!!

I would like to move to 4-4-2 dropping either Ruiz or Kara and bring on Petric or Hugo along with Berba. But that means that Berba has to stay up and link. He can drop back only if we need possession or playing for time.

Well great day out despite the loss.

I thought we played quite well and had a lot of possesion but similar to the Wigan game we make hard work of getting an actual shot in. (I can only remember 1 !)

I know that we are playing away from home but often we get the ball along the wings and there is nobody about to receive a cross and inavariably, after a few sideway moves it slowly goes back to our goalie - so frustrating !

The first goal was a killer and I think City relaxed after that. We were ineffective upfront but we kept going and put a good shift in.

I think Jol's recent mention of relegation is a message to the board to give him some money to spend. I'm confident we'll be ok but we have to be careful. Next year's prize money increases enormously and the gap between Premier League and Championship will grow only wider.

Thanks COYW - glad turned out to be an okay day. That last point you make is just so relevant.

I never thought I'd say this, but I think Jol needs to either tell Barbs to stop tracking back and stay up top, or we need to play Petric or Rodallega with him, as has been said.

Martin Jol.....we did ok....wht on earth was he going on about, we didnt have a shot, Sidwell hit the outside of the post from a header - but knew nothing about it. We look a mess up front - where is the next goal coming from? Forget the cup, West Ham and Man Utd...both at home....lose these 2 and we'll be bottom 4.
Oh and a new keeper urgently required. Schwarzer too many mistakes time and time again its getting boring. Southampton, Spurs, Liverpool and now Man City plus more. He's been poor.
