Assume Bassong injured and Benno in to give Pilks a much-needed rest?

 

Also Hoolahan seems to have been dropped for Howson. I think either we will get completely obliterated today or we will ride our luck and escape with a draw!

 

o no i hope we like getting defeated by double digits the to cb have never played together before and they have to come up against Suarez and Sturridge. we are going to get pasted now got no rock in defence now.

 

Game over before its starts, sorry but thats how i see it looking at that line up.

 

Benno has deserved a shot especially after the way game form Pilks is in, Johnny is a battler as he's being played in his favoured position good chance for him, Wes was poor against newcastle and probably needed a rest.
Nervous without Bassong, hopefully just a knock and not something more serious.
Reckon we will continue to play with inverted wingers or will Snoddy move to the other side?

 

Snoddy on the left IMO, get some deeper crosses into Holt.

It's a big opportunity for R. Bennett and Howson! I think Howson might be there so we can try to physically dominate their midfield.

I reckon Sturridge will score. And Suarez. And we won't win. But it could be a good game.

 

Really hard to know what will happen but I expect quite an open game in the second half. Bassong is a big loss but if we can force them to put balls in from deep we are better then they are in the air. I feel we must play a pressing game to prevent the likes of Suarez and sturrige receiving the ball to feet. While I think we will lose I feel people are overestimating how good Liverpool are. Really they are quite an average side but with a couple of good individuals. We have played better sides and done well.

Also good to see Michael Oliver is the ref. He is really good

 

Bassong has been huge for us but thats why you have backup. Ryan Bennett is a good defender.

 

So much negativity! I'm fine with that! R Bennett isn't bad and Turner was better than Bassong against Newcastle. He has also improved so much.

 

Glad it is Ryan and were not wheeling out Barnett, they have Carragher playing though and he's slower than Per Mertesacke.

 

not with a weakened side coming out of a losing run we havent. pessimistic for today (but I hope to be proven wrong)

 

Liverpool are due a beating. Long overdue.

 

Reckon Howson is there to try and harry Lucas and stop them playing out too easily through the midfield. Hopefully it works! As for bennett and turner lets hope they don't remember Fulham too well

 

I'm not throwing in that towel just yet, but it's an interesting line-up. Carragher's lack of pace works in Holt's favour, and Howson offers more aerial threat than Hoolahan, which will be helpful. Not sure how the wingers will line up, but I'd like to see them given a chance to swap wings. No Sterling for Liverpool either.

 

I agree. Although Carragher's pace would work in favour of a tank.

Sterling missing out is less of a blessing when Sturridge is replacing him! I'm just pleased not to see Shelvey, he's been such a driving force for them at times this season
