So this is your idea of a Torrent of abuse. Well i'm glad we cleared that up as I was unaware that you were only going to do it on the Chuckles thread, if I had known that I would have of course said nothing about it on other threads.

Seig Heil. Did you know they switched the floodlights on at Parkhead during war to help guide in Nazi bombers?

Page 11 - if I read that correctly, more respondents think action should be taken against sectarianism than racism, offensive chanting, throwing missiles, fighting or abusing disabled fans. I really hope I've got that wrong <yikes>

That is a true fact. That is why they have illuminated the "Celtic Football Club" sign as a homage to that period.

More coverage is given to Sectarianism despite nobody really wanting to identify what they think it is. A new law was intoduced in Scotland that was purported to be "anti-sectarian legislation". It isn't. It is Offensive behaviour at football that is being addressed. A pointless rushed law that doesn't address the real issues at all.

Fair enough - cheers. Rushed laws usually are eitherb pointless or completely unworkable. I was going to mention the Dangerous Dogs Act but thought some wag would link the 2. Ah bugger - too late <whistle>

Yep. Like any time anyone murders someone there will be a poll where 80% of folk are in favour of the death penalty.

The dangerous dogs Act is a good example. I don't really know how they dealt with things like that before, but it certainly looked like it came in off the back of a few highly publicised incidents. Then nothing was heard of it for years until that tragedy in Liverpool a while back. Then all of a sudden there is a load of publicity around it again.

Really and truly who is going to say it is a bad thing to address dangerous dogs, sectarianism, whatever the issue may be. I'm just always sceptical that it can be managed sucessfully with 'apparently' ill conceived legislation.

It wasn't a rushed law dan.

Weeble just believes that singing political songs at football is appropriate, and even educational.

Some of them can be educational though MD. Until I heard Chelsea fans sing Spuirs are on their way to Auschwitz i didn't realise they were off to Poland for a pre season tour.

The nature of the law changed when Christine Graham etc realised that the existing data proved that Scotland was an anti Irish and anti Catholic country........... So.........they shredded the evidence and changed the law to offensive. If they had not, the jail cells would be bursting with people who sing, shout and write anti Irish and antic Catholic diatribe.

Fields of Athenry - rebel song promoting rising up against the crown. Basically it's treason
You'll never walk alone - glorifies armed robbery and promotes the formation of gang violence
Boys of the old brigade - treason
    sean south - treason
this land is your land - makes out that the land belongs to the people not the state -it prmotes anarchy which is quite dangerous as some people might be inclined to do soemthing about it

    That's for starters.

Yes, in your world of the pink and orange sky.
None of these is in any way sectarian, as to political, BOTOB concerns the Commemoration if the Irish War of Independence from a century ago, in the same way that Star Spangled Banner commemorates the American fight against British imperialism and empire building being defeated. Battles and wars fought in other countries in which the UK had no right to be.

In your world it is ok to sing songs about wading up to your knees in the blood of Catholics and proclaiming an ambition to kill one before you depart this world.

with the passage of time, rfc and SEVCO fans will be seen as Scotland's shame, while Celtic fans are already being perceived throughout England, where these songs are tolerated along with Flower of Scotland in their correct historical context.
