My memory of Papa was of the friendly wave he always got from the bloke with the flag in his hand running down the side of the pitch.

Actually, when I read St Godders thread, I did have to google Nigel, just to make sure that he was still only sacked and had not also died.
Grateful for small mercies and all that.
Should we have a minutes silence as well?
I will always be grateful to Nigel but as has been said, we move on.

What if Paul Lambert gets the same treatment and Nigel gets the job, keeps Villa up at our expense, how ironic would that be?

Or what if he took over Villa and got relegated.

When Saints were in L1 I enjoyed the laissez faire nature, the more football for footballs sake without all the corporate ugliness of where we are now.

I fear that the ambitions of the chairman will completely remove the quaint cosiness of a family club and replace it with a being that is only motivated by naked success and ambition.

Quite frankly I want a club that does the right thing, but is ethically and morally sound.

What do others think, would they stand for success even if it was not those things?

I'm certainly not feeling very proud to be a saint at the moment! Corporate or family club! Not sure I feel comfortable with the appeasement

I don't think that it was any different in L1 to be fair. When ML/NC took over their goal was to have a professionally run, successful and financially sound club, and that was clear from day one.

Never forget, Nicola Cortese is a man with a mission to realise Markus Liebherrs dream, his thinking must be that Mauricio is the man to fulfil that promise, we will have to be the judge of that from the results, one way or another. He may be reclusive and seemingly uncomunicative, but he has yet to let us down, however we perceive his methods. Jury is out, don't hang an innocent man by being misguided and opinionated. I hate what happened today, but I will get over it and move on, because I am a happy clapper, a Saints fan and proud of it, nobody said it was going to be an easy ride.

Godders I like your idea as it shouldn't effect the players and shows Nigel what we thought of him

Cortese, you are an Italian C*NT. F*cking Mafioso scum bag. We had greasy WOP's running our Club too and they nearly destroyed it with their crookery.

Merson said he wants Saints to go down now because of this. I can feel his anger but that would only hurt you fans and you've done nothing wrong in all this. You've been shafted the most in this scenario. Obviously I want QPR to stay up ahead of you but I really feel for you Saints fans tonight.

    You've been truly ass invaded.

I somehow think the Chelsea FA Cup result may have been the tipping point, there was an awful lot that was wrong about that game, did it precipitate a knee jerk reaction, who knows? The fact we improved after that game may have been too late.

I think we need to understand that cortèse agenda is different to ours and why he let Nigel go. As fans we are emotionally attached to the club, which means we care about its successes but because we are a family we care about how people are treated. It's important to us but cortèse that's an irrelevance. But without him we wouldn't have a club

It will be a bit of a culture shock for their fans who were used to Holloway who never stopped talking about his club, to Nigel who only talks in riddles and never told anyone anything!

Actually SAINTDON13, I don't think Markus Liebherr ever had a dream about taking a football club to the top. He was into state of the art common-rail diesel engines and gearboxes, and making an awful lot of money from the technology. SFC has very much been Nicola's dream and when he talked his good friend into putting up the money to buy the Club, I'm pretty sure Markus was doing it to fulfil Nicola's dream, not the other way around. The facts and statements fit this model, as they say. Knowing Cortese, he'll make Southampton FC into a great asset for the Liebherr family and He and Us will all have a heck of a lot of highs and lows along the way. On the face of it, today wasn't the best of days, but maybe it was a better day than we think.

I don't comment much but feel now is the right time to get involved. I have seen Southampton go trough Administration and get relegated to League 1. As Le God says the worst thing about this is that it is no shock. I have seen so many comments saying how disgraceful the decision to sack Adkins is and I couldn't agree more. Yet everyone is happy to go along supporting THE TEAM. Don't get me wrong I have always supported Southampton FC no matter what. Yet you all complain yet do nothing. Surely the way to prove to Cortese we are dismayef by the decision to sack Adkins is to stop paying to go to Matches. Do you think Cortese cares who's name we sing if we do go? NO! As long as he gets the money for gates it's fine by him.

Did sacking a manager last time we were struggling in the PL help? no. I have been shouted down by many for agreeing to boycot the Everton match but I am fed up of being taken advantage of as a fan and feel we need to stand up for what we believe in.

    One Nigel Adkins <3
