QPR transfers: Harry Redknapp plays down Brede Hangeland link
QPR transfers: Harry Redknapp doubts the Hoops will be able to complete a sensational swoop for Fulham's Brede Hangeland

Harry Redknapp doubts that Queens Park Rangers would be able to pull of a sensational coup and sign Brede Hangeland, despite speaking of his admiration for the Fulham defender.

The QPR manager is readying himself for life without experienced centre-half Ryan Nelsen, who accepted an offer to become the new manager of Major League Soccer’s Toronto earlier this month.

The former Blackburn Rovers and Tottenham Hotspur defender is expected to leave in late February, meaning the Hoops will once again be struggling on the defensive front – and at a crucial time of the season.
So it’s no surprise Redknapp has been linked with a plethora of centre-halves, and with West Bromwich Albion informing QPR that Jonas Olsson is not for sale, the 65-year-old doubts Hangeland will be arriving at Loftus Road either.
“I like him but I think it will be difficult to get him from Fulham,” said Redknapp.
“Ryan’s going who is a real leader for us and he’s been fantastic, so we could do with a strong character in there. Hopefully [he won't leave] until the end of February or the start of March.”
Redknapp added that will not spend just for the sake of it: “It depends really. If there are players who I feel can help the squad, I’ll change a few around. But if I can’t find the ones who I don’t think can make a difference, I won’t bother.”
Meanwhile, Rob Green has been linked with a possible exit from the west London club, with Júlio César ahead of the England international in the pecking order at Loftus Road.
Despite being unwilling to let Green leave, Redknapp revealed that the goalkeeper’s man-of-the-match display in their midweek FA Cup triumph was not enough to usurp first-choice shot-stopper César for the West Ham clash.
“Both keepers played well but César was fantastic against Spurs,” he said.
“I really couldn’t be changing him for the West Ham trip. Rob came in and did a great job on Wednesday night but Júlio did nothing wrong last week. He made a couple of saves in the first half which really kept us in the game.”

Regardless of who we get in, if Nelsen leaves ( as Harry hopes ) at the end of Feb or early March. As good as Nelsen is, Is he still worth a place in the 25 man squad? If he is then it means Harry has to make do with a 24 man squad for nigh on 3 months. Quite a bizarre situation.

If Harry is going to keep him until end Feb then he 'll have to be in the 25 for it to make any sense.

I get it. That means he can still play for us on his weekends off, or if we get to the cup final. <ok>

Only if we kept his registration but as far as I know he is thought of in a player/coach(manager) role over there making it impossible I'm afraid.

Actually I'm off to bed. The Led Zeppelin concert is already put on record on the PVR though, gonna watch it later tomorrow after we have celebrated my dads 60th birthday. So long day ahead of me, hoping to see the game (pretty sure I can) and after lots of beers I'll sit down and enjoy the Led Zep show :)

Is it good? Think it was Igor who spoke highly of it when it came out on DVD/BluRay.

It's very good, but not sure its Celebration day - its "highlights" only of a concert from Dec 2007 at the 02 Arena in London.
