Okay, Adkins certainly shouldn't have been sacked but seriously, wtf!!!! A manager getting undeservedly sacked from a football team doesn't remotely compare to one of the largest maritime disasters in history which resulted in 1500 deaths. Get a sense of proportion for goodness sake!

He wasn't stating one was worse than the other, but he was saying the sacking of Adkins is a comparable situation to the last few moments of the sinking of the Titanic. IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE.

I was sad reading it but when, when I saw the the face it was all too much. He was more than just a manager.

Seeing this has made me wonder whether I'd rather have a team led by a winner without soul, or a "nice" manager with lots of passion but maybe unable to take the team to the next level.

If MP can win us over even half as much as Adkins did, then he'll have done well, but I doubt it will happen fast.

    Not sure if he cares

I just hope that Nigel is feeling the positive way that most fans loved him and is taking comfort from that

Or he was just saying that this incident has made him emotional and upset - much like that particular scene in a movie.

i think the reason people have taken Adkins dismissal to heart is because we have been a fmily run club for years with no real ambition to reach the top but just be part of it ,we now have a chairman who sees things as a business and to reach the top which is a different mentality to what Saints have stood for over a very long time ,none of the top clubs successful clubs have room for sentiment ,if we become one of the top clubs then fans expectation and outlook will change wether thats for the better who knows because im sure if we won the premiership things would look and seem very very different,im sad Adkins has gone but life moves on he was adecent human being which makes it seem worse but am sure he will be successful in his future wherever that may be

Nigel is a class act & knew from his first interview.

There is more to football than results. A club with a decent "soul" will have more good things happen to it than bad.

Quite a bit of the "good soul" in Southampton was lost today. The club to me, feels rather hollow right now.

I agree, Southampton will never be the same as it was for the past 3 years.

lot of that feeling came from the fact we were winning games and was successful in 2 promotions so results do affect the feelings including the soul of the club, would you feel the same towards Adkins had we stayed in league 1, he would still be the decent man but not a winning one

Yes, but the assertion that a scene which was an actual event which happened in real life in a movie about one of the largest maritime disasters in history during which 1500 died should elicit the same or comparable emotions and feelings as a manager getting sacked is frankly beyond ridiculous.
