Good finish by Farfan for the opener and Holtby had a good chance to make it 2 a couple of minutes later but the defender sliding in deflected the ball well over the bar. He's looked full of energy so far but he's not seeing much of the ball, maybe Schalke's players are angry at him for leaving.
Anyone else watching the Schalke game right now? Holtby is playing, just gonna watch the second half now. Thought I'd see a little bit of our man in Germany for myself EDIT: I should read previous posts before posting haha!
Assist for our boy, nicely weighted pass with the outside of his left foot on the run. Had a nice chance at the edge of the box at the start of the second half as well
2-0 assist from Holtby. The ball fell very kindly to him but was quick enough to capitalise and then put a lovely left footed, outside of the boot pass for Draxler.
2-2 now! One was an unlucky deflection looping into the top corner but lets not buy any Schalke defenders, just incase.
Holtby just got another assist, nice little control and pass in the area, megged someone with the pass as well. Gotta say this is a cracking game, its gone from 1-0 schalke to 3-2 schalke in about 10 minutes EDIT: Dammit YV!!!
5-3, Holtby completes a Schalke counter with a simple tap in after Farfan unselfishly squared it to him when one on one with the keeper. Edit: and he's subbed off in the 91st minute

Game finishes 5-4 Schalke, very entertaining second half that was a great advert for the Bundesliga (perhaps not in a defensive sense though!). Holtby got 2 assists and a goal, as YV said earlier on in the thread he looked energetic but saw little of the ball in the second half as Hannover often seemed to have more possession. When he got the ball though he looked like making things happen. All in all a very encouraging half to watch, both in terms of entertainment value and because Holtby looked effective when given the chance.
Watched the 2nd half on laptop! Very entertaining! looks a useful player inbetween MF and attack, and just the man Dembele would be looking to find.
Holtby's just had a really long chat in front of the camera now, wish I spoke German. Looks like a pretty standard post-match interview but you never know, could be man of the match stuff or something more.....the chat with the interviewer ended with a handshake and something like 'guten England' or something which might have been a reference to 'good luck in England' or something. I really don't know. I'm probably reading too much into things but I'd love to see us bringing him in now for the extra £1.6 mill. If signing him secures us CL we'll more than make up the outlay.
