Another positive from Nigel's point of view is that he has apparently been paid off to the sum of around £1,000,000. Only a small price for what he achieved in my opinion.
By the way, if you dont want to cry then for the love of God don't watch his interview after we beat Cov on the final day last season.

I am with both of you, which is kind of confusing. I don't think that this crosses a line, though. As TSS says, the line was crossed when the PL was formed and the FA sold their soul to Rupert ****face Murdoch.

My lasting memory of Nigel Adkins as Saints manager will be the supreme dignity of the man being interviewed and not, or almost not, giving any hint that he was being axed. And that image of Andy Crosby giving him a big hug and slapping him on the back after the final whistle on Wednesday.

That was a defining moment for me in deciding that Nigel will forever be a Legend in my eyes. Rarely does a manager show emotion and when he was close to tears after the Cov game I respected his courage for doing so publicly. I for one will support whichever team he takes over (excluding Portsmouth) and wish him the best of luck in the future.

He was considered a good manager, but had players sold from underneath him. People who know Spanish football are speaking highly of him. Described as one of the brightest young managers, but then so was Nigel (sigh).

Just watching Pochettino in his interview, He is saying all the right things (All be it via na interpreter). However the fact he refuses to answer the question of when he was approached to take over as manager says it all for me. It also explains alot about recent goings on at the club.

Have to admit, I chuckled. It's a good one. Nobody swore and the kids can read it too, which is what I'm concerned about. :)

Where did you hear that CBK..?

Fair play to Nigel for continuing to manage even though he knew his days were numbered.

I wont bother repeating my thoughts on this thread, already put them on HR's thread.

Cortese really has put us in a horrible position. Most neutrals hoping we get relegated, most pundits saying the same thing and most of the media. However it seems as if alot of people seem to want to take it out on us, the supporters, we are just as disgraced and shocked at the decision but the actions of our chairman should not mean us as fans must suffer. We as fans do not deserve relegation purely because our chairman sacked a manager that we all adored.

I'm surprised and shocked but am now thinking this may also point to NA not being as pro youth as he made out. Fact is NA insists the U21 is used for training matches for the liked of Forte, Barnard, Lee and Mayuka keeping young talent on the bench.

I will not be surprised if these older players are quickly moved on to make way for talent like Sinclair, McQueen, Seagar and Isgrove.

As a supporter of a rival club mixed feelings really.Southampton are a club like us,regarded by the s**t pundits as somehow unworthy of our place at the top table.Things like this however bring home the nasty side of football.I think Adkins will be out of work about a fortnight.Uneccessary distraction when things were starting to go well.

I loved the man. I am really gutted and was so happy seeing where Nige could take us. I was so proud of us coming back from 2-0 v Chelsea and I don't know how long it will take to get over this. I hope some of the people who seem to have got over this so quickly won't be expecting any loyalty from out current players or new manager as our club has clearly shown none to Nigel. This is not an emotional outburst, this man had got us 2 promotions and competing in the Prem. He had got Punch to play the best football of his career, given Lambert the career he never thought he could have and helped develop the most exciting l.back and one of the most exciting r.backs in England.

I won't forget so easily Nigel. I will grieve for you and always wonder what we could have achieved together as one.

There is only one Nigel Adkins.
