How is your post an answer to mine. My whole point is that fans stay with the team, so we are the ones who suffer. Southampton fans followed our team into League 1. Our gates were massive then.

According to Spanish media, Adkins knew he was on the way out.

Does this somewhat explain the sheer fight in that 2nd half at Stamford Bridge?

Wilkins spoke in the tunnel at the Bridge to the Echo and said NA, AC, himself, and Jim Stannard knew they were going.

Because you won't love the club any less for being relegated, and you won't stop going to games. But the "long-term ambitions" of the chairman will be exposed for the disgusting knee-jerk that they are. <ok>

I was on a day trip to Glasgow today, and my son phoned to tell me. It was like a kick in the stomach. Wednesday night, I was all content, secure in knowledge that Nigel had fully got up to speed with this league - now I despair. Interesting to see what the player`s reaction is on Monday.

Yeah cheers for that! Are you Merson in disguise? The club would not exist without the support of the fans and we are unhappy with the decision.

Adkins hasn't been his happy, positive, charismatic self recently despite the fact we've been on an unbeaten run. He's looked really stressed out and worried. I think he's known for a few games and might have told the team at half time against Chelsea.

Possibly, Nigel certainly not as cherpy as i expected after the game. But i thought it was all part of his new "Premier league manager" act

I appreciate what you say CBK, and if you've reached that personal tipping point then it's entirely understandable. I'm not ecstatic myself, and I haven't been throughout the SKY TV era. To me there has been something so impersonal about Premier League football ever since its inception. I was one of the ones who loved League One and the Championship, and although I was excited by promotion, I was extremely hesitant about actually being in the PL again. But the fact is, is that if SFC is going to be more successful than it has ever been then it must move on and fill itself with personnel and practices that make that possible. I wish the PL was the old First Division and that clubs were not so glamorous. I also wouldn't go back to The Dell itself for love nor money. There are always swings and roundabouts in this, and I'm as sad for Nigel as the next person because a genuine bloke, who was honestly doing his job to the best of his ability, has lost it. As I said in a previous post, it's the modern era and there is no room for sentiment.

Knee-jerk to what? A good run of form? It's clearly a long term decision, whether you agree with it or not. Just, **** off, you clearly don't know anything about the team outside of what you read on Twitter.

I understand what you mean...though you will be slated by some. If I could get Adkins back by wishing it, I would, but am interested in how this new man will do.

Relegation wouldn't hurt them. They'll be rich and living a life of luxury regardless of what division Southampton are in.

The only people who would be hurt by relegation is the fans and the staff at the club who work behind the scenes (groundsmen, tea ladies, kitmen etc) and the fans.

If the fans had actively protested against Adkins even though he'd been doing well and forced the owners to remove him then maybe you'd have a point but they always supported him well in the games even though they were ****e at the start of the season.

I have to say, I agree with you - honestly, I would've expected a much worse reaction from you. Proved me wrong!
