I've not seen heaps of him, but he seems to be good at scoring tap ins in the 6 yard box, which is exactly what we need.
He could be the player who gets the goals we need, but at 31 I'm not over-optimistic about him long term. If they want millions for him it would be a gamble and if we're willing to spend that much we should have gone for Wood (if only to force Leicester to pay a lot more). Morison would be great if we could get him, but whoever it is I trust SB to get it right.
I hope it works out especially with the other campbell going to Cardiff. My fear is that with 7 clubs in for him it will up his price and we will be out of the running.
At which point Leicester stepped in and offered £2.1m. Interestingly the only team he hasn't really scored for. Be interesting to know what he's going for this time.
Is this transfer website value ever correct? http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/d-j-campbell/profil/spieler_37896.html If so they think 1.3 million to 1.5 million.
No, it's never correct, but nor are any of the others. I suspect all clubs deliberately muddy the waters.
i think hed do a good job getting us where we want to be, i think people worry too much about if players could hack it in the premiership.. get there first then worry about that, always flog him back to a championship club in the same position we are now..
He's a London lad, therefore I can see his preference to staying in London. Incidentally my brother in law played in the same school team as DJ Campbell - partnered him in attack # deadly!
That's true about getting to the premier league first before worrying if there good enough once there. I really don't think there are that many top forwards about so there will always be a lot of competition if a good one becomes available. Every time a forward is mentioned on here there are always fans saying we can do better than him well who are these top forwards we can get and are available. I am sure some think we are going to get a premier forward for around 5 or 6 million it just won't happen. Can anyone name a forward available who is better than the DJ or FC
That link has made my mind up, leave well alone, how the fcuk are we supposed to fit 'Dudley Junior' into a song for him!?
If a song could be done, it would have to be to the beat of the Dudley Do-Right theme song.
Becchio better than either Campbell? Are you getting married to that crack or you passing it on coz I want some!
Don't get me wrong, his record this season has been fantastic, and he will guarantee us goals in this division. However, if I was given the choice between him and a certain other Mr Campbell, I would rather we invested our money in someone younger who I think could potentially have a far larger influence on our chance of promotion.
Cant help but agree with some of those comments that a 3 year deal is too long. But surely it would either be 2 and a half or 3 and a half - it wouldnt end his deal in the middle of a season. If the contract is until the end of the 2015 season then Im fine with that, if it's until end of 2016 then that's too long....
How does this rule work regards playing for more than 2 clubs in one season as Campbell has already played 17 games for Ipswich and one for QPR
Is that the case? If so good spot. Everyone seems to be using this logic to rule Elmo out of going elswhere and then overlook it when it comes to someone coming to us! I dont understand the basis for this rule btw. What purpose does it aim to serve?
