5th January 2013 Not the best of weekends for the lads still out on loan - Marcello Trotta came on as a sub at 71 minutes in Brentfordâs cup tie against Southend with the score at 2-2, Despite Brentford pressing hard and a couple of shots by Trotta (saved by the Southend keeeper), his couldnât get the vital goal to avoid a replay. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20863411 Lauri Dalla Valle was the one subbed (after 78 minutes) as Crewe Alexandera went down 2-1 at home to Stevenage. A quiet afternoon from Lauri who missed a couple of easy chances in the first half. Whether he returns to Motspur Park at the end of his loam spell (which looks likely) will be decided tomorrow. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20863458 Dartford conceded an equalising goal on the stroke of half time. In a hard fought match they didnât learn from that though and despite some fine saves from Marcus Bettinelli, they lost to a last minute winner by Alfreston to go down 3-2. It was also a wee bit tetchy at times and Marcus was one of a number of players booked, his being five minutes before half time. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20863417
Burn extends loan contract at Yeovil http://www.thisissomerset.co.uk/Ful...-Yeovil-Town/story-17782818-detail/story.html They sound pretty impressed with him.
And someone I'd completely forgotten about - James Musa - also played for his new club Hereford United at the weekend. They got a very credible 1-1 draw against league leaders Grimsby Town. For some strange reason Hereford stuck James out on the left wing, although he managed to create three chances and only a great block stopped one of them going in.
Yes, Burn's deal is good news. Yeovil looked like a decent side when I saw them on Boxing Day, and his team mates seemed to have a lot of confidence in him playing the ball out from the back. I think it's a good place for him to cut his teeth.
Yes, I agree. It's hard to tell from a league one game whether he's ready for the Premier League, but he looked good when I saw him. In terms of the type of player he is, I think he'd fill Hangeland's boots nicely. In terms of whether he's good enough... perhaps, but on one viewing I'm really not sure. It was a good but not flawless defensive display from him. Enough for me to be optimistic about him in the future though.
Lauri Dalla Valle Crewe Alex would like to extend his loan but only so long a Fulham don't fie their hands to playing him automatically. "Crewe Alexexndra manager Steve Davis has faith in his fringe men to supply the goals to keep Crewe moving up the table in the second half of the season. The manager is in negotiations to keep Lauri Dalla Valle, whose loan ended on Saturday, providing Fulham agree to the 21-year-old striker being used more in a rotation system." Seems fair enough from their point of view and it won't do Lauri any harm to have to fight for his place. Hope a new deal is agreed because, as I said before, there's no real point in him returning to Motspur Park at the moment, with the likes of Corey Gameiro, Richard Penlket and Cawley Woodrow already there.
In fact he has returned. http://www.crewealex.net/news/article/ldv-returns-to-fulham-585908.aspx No messing about obviously.
Dan Burn's Yeovil lost 1-0 to Leyton Orient in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy semi-final last night. please log in to view this image A last-gasp goal from David Mooney earned Leyton Orient a 1-0 home win as the East London outfit booked their place in the next stage of the competition. Orient looked up against it when Anthony Griffith was dismissed for a second bookable offence in the second half. But, with the match heading towards a penalty shoot-out, Mooney struck in injury time to send Orient through. Dan of course is staying at Yeovil till the end of the season and next game up is Sheffield United in the League on Saturday
12th January 2013 All our lads out on loan had a good day ; Marcello Trotta was unlucky with a couple of shots late on before being subbed after 80 minutes as Brentford tried to hold on to a 1-0 lead away to Oldham. However, two minutes later they added a second and ended up comfortable 2-0 winners. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20919227 Dan Burnâs Yeovil also had a comfortable 2-0 win away from home, this one against Sheffield. Dan was rarely troubled and made some strong runs forward, especially in the first half as Town dominated play. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20919010 James Musa, making his debut for Hereford United, had a sound game and made some useful crosses. However his side let a two goal lead slip and ended up drawing 3-3 with Alfreton. James was subbed after 83 minutes. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20919192 Marcus Bettinelliâs Dartford got back to winning ways beating Bromley 4-2 in the FA Trophy 3rd round.
Just had a text from my friend who is a season ticket holder at Brentford that Marcello Trotta has extended his stay until the end of the season. He seemed pretty positive about that, which is good news.
Agee Surly. The best thing that could happpen for him at this time. And doesn't he look happy - please log in to view this image
Marcello Trotta came on as a sub after 75 minutes and a minute later Brentford scored to go ahead 2-1 in their 3rd round cup tie against Southend. That was enough to win the game and earn a home game against Chelsea in the next round. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20942575
Marcus Betinelli also had a successful evening last night - "Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli kept his eighth clean sheet of the season as Dartford maintained their Blue Square Bet Premier Play-Off push with a 2-0 win over Macclesfield Town on Tuesday night. The hosts took the lead at Princes Park when Macclesfield keeper Lance Cronin fluffed his clearance and Jon Wallis netted from 40 yards. Bettinelli then kept Dartford in front with great saves from Keiran Murtagh and Charlie Henry, before a mistake by Pablo Mills saw Danny Harris set up fellow second-half substitute Lee Noble to secure the win. The win saw Dartford climb to seventh in the table - three points adrift of the Play-Off places. Dartford head to Hereford United on Saturday (3pm) where Bettinelli could meet Fulham teammate James Musa. The defender is currently on loan at the Bulls."
Josh Pritchard is going to Norwegian side Tromso in what looks like the start of a 'partnership' arrangement. http://www.nordlys.no/sporten/til/article6446004.ece If this comes off it would be an excellent way to help our 'nearly there' players develop - as opposed to short term loans to low league English teams where they may or may no get games. The involvement of Kit Symons suggests that a lot of background planning has already been done. Maybe there will also be a role for Brede and an incentive to sign that contract.
The Hull and East Riding paper is reporting that David Stockdale is about to return to Hull - on loan. Hull City transfer talk: Bruce confirms QPR contact over DJ Campbell as David Stockdale set to return Source: http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/story-17894236-detail/story.html? Could this mean Stekelenburg is on his way ?
It's been confirmed - "The Club can confirm that goalkeeper David Stockdale has agreed to return to Hull City on a season-long loan. The 27-year-old featured in five games for the Tigers while on loan at the KC Stadium in November and December 2012, and re-joins the npower Championship team for the remainder of the 2012/13 campaign."
If we haven't already confirmed Stekelenburg (or Butland) before agreeing this loan, then I would despair. However, if we have sorted things this loan deal makes a lot of sense.
