Not happy with Cortese at all today, but I see no reason for blaming the new manager he has done nothing wrong, from his perspective he has just got a new job. I will miss Adkins though, and if I'm honest I think Cortese will regret this decision in the long run, hope the new guy does well but he will have a whole team of players to win over let alone the fans.

Very sad to see Adkins go and the timing of it seems a little odd, but it is hardly Mauricio Pochettino's fault.

I will be behind him 100%

The chairman has a vision of Champions League football and he see's Pochettino as the man to get us there. Cortese has done little wrong so far, there was a similar (though smaller scale) response to the sacking of Alan Pardew and look what happened after that.

Cortese is paid to make the tough decisions, lets give it a chance before we judge him. This may well be the reason that no new transfers have been announced, could be a busy couple of weeks.

Frankly that's stupid. I don't agree with Nigel's sacking but you can hardly blame the new manager for it. If you don't like it then have a pop at Cortese, not the new guy.

I can understand that fans will show Nigel our support on Monday, but we mustn't upset the players. They rely on our support...we can't afford for the Chelsea-effect where the team play badly at home.

Why won't the players care for him? How can you know that? They're professionals, they'll get on with it otherwsie they'll leave and we'll replace them. This is football, we might not like it, but we'll just have to get on with it.

Like it or not, if saints is a ship then NC is the captain and we fans are just passengers. We can't tell NC how to steer the club we just trust that he knows what he's doing. (my Cantona moment there)

I don't know anything about this new manager and as ive said in the past I thought NA would prove himself as a PL manager, whatever club he does it with, but the decision is made and as I want saints to do well I want the new manager to do well too.

Squeaky bum time (a la SAF) may just have started early for me this season.

Well said - must be behind the team and get the result. Scary thing will be if we pick up no points in the next 3 - 4 games. Then fans will turn on NC and the manager. That isn't going to be good - it's a huge gamble to do this now. Hope it turns out right or we'll be laughing stock and playing Championship football again :-(

How we fair for the remainder of the season is down to us fans as much as anyone else.
We experienced first hand how fan unrest affected Chelsea. We need to step up and support our new manager.
Its not Cheating on Nigel by doing this, its life i'm afraid.

Any Boos or geers will not help and anyone thinking of doing so is a mug.

Can't believe the media reporting Jamie Redknapp's opinion on this <doh>

Why don't they ask someone who knows even the tiniest thing about the club?

I bet Adkins speaks later and says he knew it was coming and he accepts (along with his enormous promotion bonus) that he was brought in to do a job and he has fulfilled that job.

He knew when we were promoted he was going to go sooner or later, he hasn't been strung along or kept in the dark.

People saying he has been treated badly are just exposing their own ignorance.

What do we call him? Il Postino? Mmm, no, we'll come up with something.

When Nigel arrived here it didn't take long to have a great affinity with the guy.

My gut feeling it will be a bit different with this guy.

Annoyingly he isnt even a good replacement. Back when some people wanted adkins gone if this guy had been mentioned i wouldnt want him, only one reason to sack adkins and that is for a better (ie more experienced) manager, this new guy is gonna have to learn English football and the players while in the middle of a relegation battle, cant see us doing well now

I agree we shouldn't take this out on the new manager. He needs everyone's full support I've been around enough to have seen plenty of managers come and go its part of the game. If he can give us the next step up then lets support him!

Why am I ignorant for thinking Adkins has been treated badly?

I know he is doing a job, and a well paid job at that, but having been successfully promoted 2 years running, playing great football, and having kept true to his ideals and started to bed this team into the Premiership and slowly climbing out of the relegation scrap he deserves his chance at the very top. To be replaced by someone, who lets face it has hardly set the world on fire as a manager is a kick in the teeth. Cortese's description of Poccehttino sounds awfully like Lowes attempt to justify bringing in the clueless Wotte/Portaloo combo that did so well!!

To gain long term success you need the players, staff and fans ALL on the same wavelength. This action will not achieve that! Oh sorry, i'm showing my ignorance again!

Personally I'm reserving all judgement on the manager until he has settled in, as I would do with any managerial change.

Just because the situation surrounding his appointment is clouded by a perceived lack of judgement by Cortese, doesn't mean that Pochettino wants success for this club any less than any of us.

Give him a chance and we could be pleasantly surprised.
