I'm going to be brutally honest. I've lost all the excitement of being back in the PL - the scenes of jubilation when we got promoted and the feeling of joy when we drew on Wednesday are all gone. The new coach needs to start well because if we lose the first few games the atmosphere at SMS will be very hostile towards him aka Stamford Bridge.
This guy is ****ed, just walked into the eye of the storm, nothing he can do, players wont care for him, most fans will hate him.
I'm fairly sure that, if we sold Lambert tomorrow to make room for an unknown quantity, there would be outrage as well.
if he wins the next five games, you lot wont be moaning. we just have to accept that football is fickle these days. if you cant hack it, follow another sport.
If we give him the Benitez treatment, even to the power of 1, that would be absolutely shameful. Benitez had a history of slurs on Chelsea and their fans; this guy has done nothing wrong. What would you want him to do - turn the job down?? Don't agree one bit with the decision, and would rather have gone down with Adkins and feel a unit than see a potential Euro non-entity come in, but give the guy a chance!
We have somehow got to think of how we would feel about him if we were bottom of the league, and Adkins had gone after being winless. I'm still unsure, as I'm pro English managers, but I'm sure we would have some semblance of positive anticipation. Abysmal timing, and now hard to care about the Everton game. I really felt we were building something closeknit here. Naive.
Have to agree with you Jen. It's not long ago that some on here were questioniong NA's ability. I loved the guy and am really gutted atm however the club is the important thing. COYR!
I am a Southampton supporter I will support them whatever, I loved Nigel, but have to back the new guy unless he proves that he isn't what we want, I have got so many things wrong lately I am having problems knowing what is right or wrong, but life must go on.
we HAVE to support mauricio, he hasnt done anything wrong. booing him would be stupid. if the team can see we support the new man then they will perform. we CANNOT do a "chelsea" and start booing our manager before he even starts.
Balague is a really close friend of his as well as lauding literally every single Spanish manager, so I'd take his word with a pinch of salt. I'm destroyed with the news, but Pochettino wasn't the one who told Nige his time was up. Will support him and the support the club, no matter how outrageous and embarrassing it all is at present.
As much as I can see your point, and will back the team whatever, my grief stems from the fact I don't want to support a chelsea type club that sacks managers on a whim. We are now an embarrassment.
I agree and certainly I won't be spewing vitriol and anger at him. However, I fear that won't be the case for a great number....

I guess Andy Crosby and a few of the others will go too, this is going to be very disruptive, it is more to do with the timing that is so upsetting.
If you believe this was done on a whim then I can understand why you're embarrassed. I think that's pretty unlikely, personally.
Spanish football media people are just the same as English football media people, clueless, take back handers for stirring up gossip for agents and are generally parasites.
Very sad to see Adkins go and the timing of it seems a little odd, but it is hardly Mauricio Pochettino's fault. I will be behind him 100% The chairman has a vision of Champions League football and he see's Pochettino as the man to get us there. Cortese has done little wrong so far, there was a similar (though smaller scale) response to the sacking of Alan Pardew and look what happened after that. Cortese is paid to make the tough decisions, lets give it a chance before we judge him. This may well be the reason that no new transfers have been announced, could be a busy couple of weeks. COYR
