I think Rodgers did the right thing. He needed to be seen at least addressing the issue rather than sweeping it under the carpet. Luis - keep quiet, and keep scoring!
If you read Rodgers words carefully, you'll see that his prime concern is that Suarez re-igniting the discussion about his tendency to hit the deck & actually admitting to it - might impact on future refereeing decisions involving Liverpool. He's not pissed off with him diving, as he knows he dives & he's publicly defended him on it, he's pissed off about him admitting to it in public.
Rodgers's treatment of Suarez all but confirms my belief he will be off in the summer. Suarez that is.
I don't agree, I don't think Suarez will be leaving. However, if he dos then I will be truly pissed off, especially if we don't get quality replacements but even if we do they won't be of Suarez's quality.
Why? You've forwarded no valid arguments and merely made an unsubstantiated statement. So, if you want to convince Gerrez then stop being so lazy and put a little effort in!
I'm going by the fact he just signed a new contract and keeps saying he is settled here and has no intention of leaving the club. I know players aren't the most loyal but we all know how Suarez likes to speak out and appears to have no idea how to 'bend the truth' either. Might change should we sell Coates rather than loan him. Fair point too
You could just as easily ask why would he? There are a number of reasons either way, but we're really all just guessing.
The sheer averageness of our team and performances. We have no champions league to offer him and possibly no Europe at all. He clearly dislikes the media here and he may say the abuse doesn't bother him, but getting booed and jeered every week must get to him. Every single action he does gets criticised publicly on a huge scale. He is a player of great talent that is possibly being restricted by our team, should he move to a current European great, e.g Barca, Madrid, Juve, Dortmund and Bayern, he would be phenomenal. Personally I see Guardiola taking over Bayern and wanting to implement his style as the exact direction he may go.
Wasn't he treated similarly in Holland too? I don't think he can run away from this treatment because he brings it on himself. Obviously, it is overkill here too though
Fair enough, just our opinions. I just expect it and wouldn't blame him. People would have to pay in excess of £50m though, so that should help us to keep him.
Slightly going back on what I said before but if FSG really are letting the club run itself and someone offered £50m I'd be inclined to take it. As quality a player Suarez is, we could get two, possibly three very good players with that. However, I'd also say don't sell him considering some of the players we have bought!
Interesting reading Charles sale in the Fail today. Evidiently the Uruguayan FA should apologise for complaining about the vilification of Luis after the said Stoke game, based upon Suarez's 'admission'. Yet this is the hack who was last week defending Jon Champion's right to call Luis a cheat based upon his first reaction to the mansfield incident, though he glaringly ignores Luis's 'admission' that the ball clearly hit his hand accidentally, and then the media hysterically (and wrongly - including Champion) claimed he was rubbing it in by kissing his wrist. I presume Sale and the Fail don't have instructions from United to act on regarding the second part of Luis' interview (the more important and substantial part that the press choose to ignore). And that's the point - does Brendan think ANYTHING we do will pacify the FA/Media/ United/ referee axis? No it won't, so even more the case to stick up two fingers at them, back Luis wholeheartedly and circle the wagons. History will prove us right. See how long it took to find out Armstrong: the FA/United/press conspiracy will one day be exposed, and Brendan will look a fool for kowtowing to them. As do these insipid owners. Bring back Kenny, if Brendan just wants to be another Ferguson fawner.
