all this excitement about transfers and loans got me thinking. as we have been public in stating that we are mainly in the market for season long loans, am i correct to think we have untill the end of march to keep looking? maybe the priorities will be filled over the next two weeks, with others to follow depending on our position later for a season end push?

If we want a loan until the end of the season, then it needs to be a half season loan and it has to be done before the end of Jan.

If we take a player on emergency loan(I believe the emergency loan window opens two weeks after the transfer window closes), then we can only keep them for a maximum of 93 days.

Depends what games you want them to be able to play in.

Any player signed after noon on 25th January will be ineligible for the Barnsley game and any replay.

A 93 day emergency loan up to and including 4th May (the Saturday we play Cardiff) can be signed on the last day of the regular transfer window, but the player would have to go back to his club before the playoffs.

After that day we have to wait a week before we complete any loans, so signings would miss the Millwall game.

Saturday 23rd February is the first day a player could join us and stay til the Playoff Final. They wouldn't be able to play against Bolton that day as far as I'm aware.

*There's the obvious exception of goalkeepers, where the rules are completely different if a club is left with only one fit senior keeper (suspensions don't count), and you can break up emergency loans into chunks, but I'll save explaining the permutations of that until after the FA Cup tie as 6th Round Day is one of the potential breaks in the loan.
