They have both played in Coupe de France (French FA Cup) matches if that is any help.

Is there a reason why they wouldn't be eligible ?

Cup-tying is only an issue internationally if both teams involved in the transfer are involved in a continental cup competition such as the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League.

To be honest, I can see why some fans of other Clubs might dislike us now. Nobody likes a Club that just throws money around and lets be honest, we've thrown plenty of it around over the last couple of seasons. Also, some of our fans totally losing the run of themselves during the Summer didn't help matters and belittling Clubs like Swansea, who it turned out, done everything the right way.

I don't like our transfer policy. I've not liked it since our first crop of "big name", big wage signings flopped so badly last year (Barton, Phillps, Ferdinand etc). I'd much prefer for us to operate like other Clubs of our size like Norwich and the Swans and build from the basement up. What's more, I know there's plenty of guys on here who think the same.

Having said all that, I like Tony Fernandes and I think he's a good owner. His heart is in the right place but he's been naive and careless with his (?) money. Also, we are bottom of the table so I'm definitely not going to turn my nose up at Remy or anyone else for that matter. Its a big risk and this strategy has failed miserably for us in the past but who knows, the gamble just might pay off this time.

We have some fans who think above their station, no doubt. But most Clubs have those and Newcastle and Southampton are no different.

FFP doesnt come into effect unless we qualify for Europe, Im sure we wont have to worry about that for a while and we will have a new stadium by the time we get there.

Exactly that mate. LR is an old ground and due to restrictions actually seems to get smaller every year. I bet that saints fan cant remember the days at the 'Dell' where they couldn't even manage 10K? Newcastle supposed to be the most loyal 'Croc tears on tv for the camera's' fans going, where were they all with the 8K gates? other clubs as well get a new stadium and think they are some European club when they are not.
At the moment we have a small ground but once the new stadium is built we will leave all these muppets behind. Heard it all before 2 years ago saying our chairman won't spend... well guess what he does and these muppets are just jealous.

No problem with Remy, he can play in every game as clearance has been received, Mvila depends on when and if he signs but as you say, you can only be cuptied if you play for another team in that tournament.

the fail says Fulham have pulled out while Everton want a loan. it looks like we are still in pole position.

Ellers, you're kind of proving my point with statements like that mate. If you keep bigging us up, if we fall, plenty of people will (rightly) stick the boot in when we're down.

Why can't we just remain humble as a smallish Club and if we achieve anything notable, be gracious in victory? Its no wonder people want to stick the knife in when we're so far up our own arses.

From the points I've read on this thread, mainly page 4... ( I've been a bit busy of late, I've a lot to catch up on, on our board. ) There are a lot of valid points, but given our present predicament. Swords post's make a lot of sense to me.

Not when you think of him going onto other teams boards and trolling and doing more damage than all of our posts put together.

I think a lot of this thread is pure response to the Newcastle fans' reaction of Remy signing (ranging from well-wishing to condescending to bitter).

Our right to defend ourselves on our board is perfectly reasonable (as is our right to get carried away).

That said, I have to agree with Swords that, sitting 6 points off safety, it seems to be a bit premature to be hailing our revival. I know I've fallen in that trap myself too recently. It won't stop me from holding a hope of winning each and every game (well maybe not in the cup) but it will prevent me from elevating us to the status of world beaters.

The simple fact is that we SHOULD have done better with the team we put together but it went flat.

If anything, it shows the significance of the manager compared to the players when you have Derry outperforming Granero for example and much more moderately ambitioned clubs sitting way above us in the league.

Redknapp's potentially the best signing we've made this year and the players have no intrinsic worth to me (barring some entertainment value) until we've got ourselves out of the current hole and pushed on (and there's no guarantee we'll do either).

I think Matt & Swords have hit the nail firmly on the head in thier posts.

Personally I'd like us to go out splash loads of money, buy the title and stick the trophy up SAF arse but that aint gonna happen yet..So I'd recommend a bit of humility to those other team who are above us and better than us at the moment.Thats everyone.

Once we get out of this mess (IF) then we can tell them all to stick it where the sun dont shine, but right now we really dont have a case to put forward!

As a rangers fan, I have spent the last thirty odd years living the roller coaster, I was sure that at the start of this season, it might be "our year". I wasn't expecting a top four finish, just comfortable mid table and a little bit of a cup run.

I do believe we will get ourselves out of this, but if we don't and have paraded ourselves around not only our board but those of other teams, we'll look like proper twats.

Just remember how much everyone hated City when they had a big injection of money, they have kind of lost that tag now and are performing at the highest levels.

We need to concentrate on our team and hope that we stay up.

Because I've been following this club for 42 years and its about time we ****ing won something. Despite current league position I still believe we could build something stunning with TF at the helm. Low ambition for me equates to bland. Because of the cash in this game the days are long gone when smallish/humble/modest gets you anywhere.
I really could not care less about what fans of other clubs think of us, and if you worrying about this you may have self confidence/self esteem issues.

Swords i don't big up anything and 'not up my own arse' about QPR.
Over my many years as a fan i have seen a lot of changes not just at the Rangers but other clubs. I have been at my club when the buckets were out and when we were good (good/bad times). However since Flabio/Bernie then TF/Mittals have come along and want to turn our club into something special we have been 'bombarded' by many jealous/bitter fans, and most (don't know our history as well as their own)? they come on our board and mock our signings/ground/owners/fans and everything else about our club.
Decent fans would not come on here and mock so the only people i am talking to is the muppet trolls who come here and mock us.

Yes i am humble but i will enjoy what's happening because i have never seen this before and our club is changing. Our owners have proved they are committed and are building good foundations (academy/Training ground/Stadium/manager/players profile)
Like beating Chelsea i will enjoy it.
