See there is a rumour Wolves are after Jackson. We wouldn't let him go unless there was a better player lined up so perhaps there could be a January surprise. If we did hit a bad run of injuries to our forwards can we recall Vaughan?
To go back to Super's question a bit earlier, I said 'quality striker' because that's what I meant. Naturally this would also mean fitting CH's tactical thinking and with a temperament that would fit in with the squad (Balotelli & Tevez need not apply!). I do believe that there would be a big risk in going on without signing another striker. There's too much at stake! I don't think that Wolves inquiring about Jackson means that he doesn't want to be here, Redruth. IMO, City don't have the money to buy more than one 'quality striker' in this window, which means not selling either Jackson or Moro whilst buying a new striker.
i think redruth was talking about vaughan being sold. agree we should keep our forwards and add to them rather than one in, one out, unless its vaughan of course - he may as well not be our player anyway!
Sell Vaughan, Jackson and C.Martin Buy Graham (c.£5m) 2 of those strikers haven't done anything in the last year and a half, so we should cash in on them, while they still have some value left in their contracts. This would leave us with Holt, Graham, Morison and Kane. I would be happy with that. The biggest problem we have had isn't with Holt being out, it's been Ruddy. Without him, and no offence to Bunn, but he doesn't inspire the same confidence in the CBs in front as was seen earlier this season.
With SkySports reporting that City have made a 5m bid for Graham, the money is obviously there without selling. I'd be happy with Graham, who seems to be a mate of Holty. I just think that we have to get out of this mindset that City have to sell before they can buy. Hopefully Graham will happen, but if not, then perhaps another 'quality striker'.
I think most of us are on the same page here. If we find a suitable striker (or any position for that matter) better than what we have, then let's be 'aving them. My point is though that there's a good chance we won't get the magic stiker we're all hoping for. I don't think it's reason to panic though. Worst case scenario Holt gets injured again. If so we adapt. We still have Moro, Jackson and Kane and it's wasn't a million years ago that a Norwich manager had a little experiment by putting a CB called Chris Sutton up front. We've got a lot of talent in the squad and I'm expecting others to play a key part in the 2nd half of the season.
True, only twenty years ago ! Seriously though, I am getting nervous about our lack of firepower. It's been reported that we have bid £5M for Danny Graham, if that's true it means we have serious ambition, McNally for PM !!
Agreed very happy if we get Danny Graham in. Reality is, i'f have loved us to get him from Watford. Clear cut improvement opportunity in my opinion. One of the reasons he's happy to leave Swansea though is that he hasn't started enough games. Hope he doesn't mind sharing a lone spot with Holt if it comes to that.
Fact is Graham doesn't fit Laudrups tippy-tappy style. He's an honest to god footballer and I think he'd do well here. Personal preference is Hooper, but it's not my call.
You obviously haven't been watching our team under laudrup, yes we can play the passing game but he's added a few different plans under our belt, so we have a plan a,b,c and so on
Whos got more motivation. the club that uses TV money to incrementally improve their squad year on year or yet another club owned by a faceless billionaire?
Didn't work against us. I hope, for your sake, you don't end up like arsenal with 11 midget wingers on the pitch.
But we are above you in the league, so it has worked elsewhere. And mate most of our players are less than 6 foot tall, just take a look at Leon or Nathan
Thats what I mean. I think Laudrup is working to make you more "European" Doesn't always work in this league.
