Mack'em and tack'em - for some reason people from Sunderland say mack for make and tack for take. The mackem and tackem supposedly comes from the history of shipbuilding on the river Wear - we make them, you take them. Wees keys are these is the best one though.
Scottish and British... I identify myself as being Scottish... would never introduce myself saying I'm British.
I love the Scots but even I as a Geordie struggle sometimes with the various accents north of the border. I bet you even struggle yourself MD?
Actually I'm quite good with accents due to the fact I've stayed as far a field as Shetland and as South as London. Dundonians are known to "mack" dinner and order "tackaway" though.
Fecking weirdos There's a fella near me who comes from Dundee and his accent is very strong. I can't quite get it a lot of the time. Mind, we've been our holiday a few times with my father-in-law and when he does his geordie slang people just look and gawp at him. "Am ganning doon the toon the neet yer knaw, what's wrang with that"
Yes.. that the plan, I shall say : "Look at me, I'm a 32 waist, 6ft tall, handsome bastard, just like all those ****s on Not606 say they are... and I am British!"
