Right I've enjoyed today immensley as I've been absolutely bored to tears at work today and have fairly cheered mesel up with some of the crack here. Here is my 'honest thoughts' on this potential deal. Not the ones Ive been advocating and creating a stir with. Whilst I have played Devils Advocate (just a bit) about his background in recent weeks, some of it has been said tongue in cheek and some of it in earnest? Firstly, should we sign this lad? For £5m its a big yes. Is he good enough? IMO definately. I liked this lad at Watford and he is a good age and hungry to do well. Any older posters may recall I was pushing for this kid to be signed aftrer Bent left when he was still at Watford and scoring for fun. Does his b&w background and recent interviews bother me? Yes they do to be honest and for some of the reasons I have outlined recently. I'm not that much of a biggot lads to turn down a decent player for being a dirty craa but I do have genuine concerns that his background (as with Bruce) will be a stick to beat him with if he fails to get going, or has a mare in the derby game - be that honest or otherwise. I have long known about his affiliations and it remains to be seen if that interview prooves to be a step too far if things dont work out. I do think its a massive gamble by O'Neill though and one he will be hoping and praying doesnt turn bad. However, we need striking options as Wickham may not be ready yet and Fletcher is our ONLY option currently. There isnt much quality about and this lad can play both the leading strikers role and the 2nd strikers role very well. £5m is a very good price for a player who is 27 and still got his best years ahead of him. Graham would add strength and depth to our squad and provide excellent competition for Fletcher, who is of very similar style, background and ability.
My thoughts are simple. Graham is, and always has been a canny player, but I don't feel he will be a signing of massive impact, nor one that will improve us grandly. The fact he's a Mag means little (nothing) to me, I just don't see any great benefit for us from signing the lad. He'd be a better signing for the Mags, as he'd compliment Cisse nicely in a 4-4-2.
My thoughts exactly, great in the Championship, alright in the premiership. I would rather we tried to get the young lad from Man City on loan, or be really brave and try and do a loan deal for Welbeck again. Lets face it Welbeck's oppotunities at Man U are limited with RVP, Rooney and Hernandez being there so maybe another loan could see him want to come on a more permanent basis. We should have been in for Sturidge IMO as he will prove cheap at 12m.
As i've said all along, his mag roots dont bother me and i take his comments as football banter. Whoever pulls on the red & white stripes gets my backing (except if it was shearer or taylor or malcolm macdonald or anyway) If he does come then he strengthens us. Would still rather see bent back though
I was a little bit puzzled that we werent mentioned with sturridge mind, wellbeck?? Hasnt tomato beak ruled out any move for him? Guidetti seems he's haapy to pick up his salary and sit on the bench
Bit unfair mate, lad was injured, so remained at City and missed end of window. I'm sure he's game as a badger to get out and play now.
Ive been shouting about Wilfried Bony for over a year now and he has scored 15 in 16 so far this season. Would love to see him at our club.
People keep saying they'd rather us sign Guidetti but how many of you have actually seen him play? He had a great goal scoring record in a Micky mouse league that's no better than our Championship. Why have City never played him, even in the Coca cola cup?? I'm chuffed to have the Rose and Mandane on loan but I don't think getting a 3rd one in is the way forward! We need some stability, not having nearly a quater of our team borrowed! If everything goes tits up, loan signings always know they can just return back to their parent club so it doesn't really affect them!
Didnt realise he was injured, his goal scoring record speaks for itself, however, i reckon mon might be getting his fingers burnt with rose and may be reluctant to showcase somebody elses talent
Not bothered about what team he supports what I'm bothered about is the message this sends to Whickham i.e. you aren't good enough for SAFC so we'll sign a player on the strength of one good season in the PL. Also if this is the type of player we are going to go for then our ambitions must be survival and that is it. Not because he is a barcode or he slagged us off but, because he is not that good so a no from me, although as not many people want the lad and MON is doing his own thing again maybe a bit of reverse psychology is called for so yes MON get him he is great honest and totally different and much better than what we have.
Your thoughts and opinions don't count anyway. You're just a **** stain on the underpants of life chum.
