Works for me. Holtby (judging from YouTube clips) seems like he's willing to back track and play out from the back, so looks like he could rotate with Moussa at times as to who plays further up and what not.
as long as one of them is covering each position, then it could easily work. To be honest, SP very rarely gives the ball away either, so let's not discredit him from this. I can't believe these rumours about Jones. FFS
I just hope none of them catch TB. Roo, glad to see the "twits" are lively again (thats the twits on twotter) not referring to you pal! I know most of us saw the Madrid "partnership" as just some sort of stunt, but it would make sense for Madrid to send us some of their talented players (who aren't getting a look in) as it will help us out in an injury crisis, plus put their players in the shop window.
LOL there's not been much activity for days. But some of the more reliable ones (or so it seems) are saying that we're going after Jose Callejon. well, they didnt say that exactly, but they said it was a loan deal for a RM striker. - someone asked "Kaka, benzema or Higuian?" and the answer was "no, no, no!" - which just leaves Callejon. Unless it's ronaldo, of course!!! i'm at a bit of a lose end with it all. the players we want (Willian, Mouts and Damiao) will all break our transfer record. I can't see that record being broken, despite how much AVB wants them, let alone 2 or 3 times and a spend of £60odd mill! (even £40 odd mill if we forget willian) Holtby will come in as further midfield strength now we've lost sandro (not to replace him, just to add quality options for a potential formation change) And there's be a loan striker. - other than that, I just can't see anything happening as I don't see Levy changing his ways.
What happened to Kaka? he went from being talked about as the best player in the world, man city trying to sign him for mega money and I remember he put in a great display against Man utd in the champions league yet he careers seems to have gone backwards.
injuries. btw, it wasn't necessarily a forward the twits were on about. someone else replied to that thread saying "callejon" and the reply was "no" again. who else could we be after at RM? and it won't be ratface.
I'm going to think like a Twit for a second. Googles "real madrid squad. Looks. Ponders. "sandro injured at spurs, adebayor off to african nations" Midfielder or striker, possibly both.... "Kaka, I know madrid want to sell and get him off their wage book, so a loan is possible, plus it will cause a stir on TWITter and i'll throw the name José MarÃa Callejón into the mx as I expect he isn't as well known in england by fans, so they may believe me!"
Oh and if the deals don't happen and i'm wrong, i'll just say there was an "issue" with the player wanting to move to England!
I'll never forget that bloke last summer that stitched everyone up! that follower who went and got a shirt with a player name on the back because he believed that the player would be joining and never did! the best bit.... the letter where the ITK admitted it being a hoax account, and signed it as "Boss". - I genuinely thought it was you cause of the conversations we'd had on here previously. such a coincidence
ha ha, he must have been from the same school of thought as me!, maybe Roo we can join forces in the future! We should set up a TWITtter account in the summer and see if we can stitch a few people up, maybe target some of the clubs we "like"!
Just seen this on the OS: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/spurs/News/william-on-barclays-asia-trophy-17012013.page? Basically it's Gallas talking about our participation in the Barclay's Asia Trophy when pre-season comes around, maybe I'm looking a bit too much into this but why is Gallas talking about it? His contract runs out this season, surely we've not offered/ offering him a new deal?! As great of a player he was, he's nowehere near the level we need him at now, let alone what he'll be like next season.
Only players that I could see leaving Madrid on loan will be Morata, Varane and Albiol. Though none are of the type nor calibre we really need. Varane is a young, talented defender but not what we need, Albiol a CB - not what what we need and Morata is a young striker that with all honesty, I wouldn't want to take a risk on him as he's unproven and not at the level we need for striker. I can't really see anyone else that could be a viable option... Unless it is rat boy, which I'd find extremely surprising.
Do you guys think it's worth us taking a punt on Charlie Austin of Burnley? - I don't mean as a regular first teamer, but he's a lethal goalscorer and he's pretty strong too; he'd hold the ball up well for us and give us a different option. I'd much rather we were linked with someone like him for a few million, rather than kenwyne jones. Austin might end up being a flop, but he's been a goal machine everywhere else he's been. I saw him play for Swindon on many occasions and he was always in the right place at the right time with a good eye for goal. I always thought that he'd never be better than league 1 or 2, but he's proven himself at Burnley now too, being one of the top scorers in the championship. perhaps with some good coaching, he could make it in the premiership too?
I always take a special interest in the career of Charlie Austin because I saw him play for Poole Town which was where it all took off for him. I think a lot of clubs have reservations about taking on a player who hasn't come through in the 'traditional' way by serving an apprenticeship/academy at a FL club. The likes of Dave Kitson coming from stacking shelves in Sainsburys to the PL via a couple of moves, is far less common now. My gut feeling is that Austin would turn out to be similar to players like Nugent or Beckford, when asked to make that step into the PL, they were found out. Mind you, I have no doubt someone will soon take a punt on him.
Hi spurcat. It's a similar one for me, I have good mates who know him and went to school with him, but due to that I've always tried to remain unbiased, as its easy to get carried away. Maybe he's not good enough, but I'm amazed that someone like reading haven't gone in for him, especially as he's a local lad.
I think his main managers Danny Wilson when he was at Swindon, and Eddie Howe at Burnley, have both been very good for Austin's development. I could see both of those coming in for him if they were to get their current clubs promoted this season. I always say that a player does stand a chance of progressing if he improves season after season, and there's no doubt Austin has done that. There's a lot of big clubs based in the north-west and it will be interesting to see if any of them show interest in him, because if he continues scoring, someone will definitely take a chance on him.
Are we being linked with Kenwyne Jones then? I like him as a player and would've been pleased we signed him if 'Arry was still in charge but I don't understand how he'd fit in to what AVB wants our team to set up like.
