Adkins knows how to play Lambert. He said recently that you have to be careful with a man built like Ricky...he didn't mean he's unfit but big units tire easier. He's just been asked if he regrets not playing Lambert earlier...he said, 'No, that was the plan. He was fresh for the end of the game. He made an impact because that is what an impact player does.'

The plan worked but I'm not convinced it was the right way to go. Happy with a draw and happy it worked. But think we might have won if we'd started with Lambert and Ramirez. That being said I could be wrong and we might have actually lost. Great draw still and we keep the unbeaten streak going.

No end to it, is there? :D When people genuinely think they could have done better than a draw at the Bridge, it's sad days.

I resisted listening to Saints Player when we scored the equaliser because I would probably curse it. So at the end of the day, you've got me to thank for this result!

I hate to say it...but i'm going to anyway...Ramirez was quite possibly our worst player tonight, tight between him and Davis. Lambert would have died in 90 mins at that tempo, he looked knackered at the end of 45.

If anything, the Chelsea supporters were their own worse enemy, turning against their own team when 2 0 up is not true support, but it happened tonight.

glad chaplow got some prem minutes. good to have him as an option, can play anywhere in midfield as the jack russell type player, running around bothering everyone!
this takes a lot of pressure off of the everton game now although i still hope for something from that game to really have this as a bonus point.
anyone know when the next england game is? wouldnt mind a cheeky tenner on shaw/lambert being involved

Come on, surely we can be happy with this and say well done Nige. Your 4 sentences all appear to come from a different viewpoint. Are you a focus group?

What a night!Unbelievable!Feels like a win!Two wing backs were absolutely fantastic, Morgan amazing in the middle and I have to say Chappers surprised me....He really got at them and showed great energy. I was cursing when he came on but proved me wrong! To make it better my Chelsea supporting Dad rang me at half time to gloat...needless to say he didn't answer when I called just there!

Great result, really growing as a premier league side. Nigel is doing a fantastic job yet still directs all praise away from himself.

Nigel YOU are the reason the teams fortunes have turned. In Nigel we really do trust.

MOTD presenter Gary Lineker on Twitter:
"Brilliant point for Southampton. Like the way they play and I'm convinced Saints will stay up."

    always liked him

Just pulled this peach of a quote off the Chelsea theshedend forum:-

we don't have 2 premier league quality strikers in the whole f**king squad. <doh>

Supporting one of the big teams must be such a miserable experience!
