Fellow Gasheads, supportive Teds and Clls Smith, Windows, Comer, Alexander and Breckels I raise a glass to you all Cheers!
The Local Government Minister, Eric Pickles, has 21 days in which to object. He doesn't have grounds to though, so hopefully it's a formality. It's rare that Westminster interferes unless there's a reason of national importance. Come on UWEStad! Up the Gas!!
OK! Feeling Great about the decision. BUT when the employed professionals on our Council recommended this application, what pratts do we elect who vote against a decision for such shallow reasons. Can they not look at the whole picture, rather than their narrow points of view?
because the mem was dedicated as a sports venue and for nothing else, permission is needed from the secretary of the state to allow this. he has 21 days to respond. thats the only thing in our way now
Thxs Capt Sparrow.. so let me get this right! unless there is a really good reason, this should be the end of this saga? and the building can start?
Get the bulldozers in! Love it! Bloody hell, we are most definitely a club in need of a boost like this. Comer was spot on when he said that this decision was very much a reputational one for Bristol. After the Ashton Vale debacle and so many other laughable decisions, I'm over the moon that the tide appears to be turning in Bristol and that the city is slowly dragging itself into the 21st century. Now hopefully they can sort out the Teds' stadium too, so that BRFC, BCFC and GCC will at long last have decent facilities instead of the dilapidated ones we've got now
yes. higgs stated yesterday that building work will start in the summer if tonight goes well. he predicted it should be ready to move in during the 2014/15 season and may seek permission from the football league to move during the season. the original plan was to be in by the start of 2014/15 season but all the delays meant we cant. if the football league dont grant that permission then the start if the 2015/16 will be when we move in sainsburys wont kick us out of the mem either so they will wait until were out before they start their work
That probably wouldn't work because they would be third choice for the fixtures behind the UWE students. Good Luck for them at AG.
Now now, I am serious it could be great for both Bristol teams, plus should City get relegated their money situation and league might mean no ground. Sharing with us is the best financial option for both clubs.
No, I don't think it is. They will get it eventually after the inquiry this October. The tide has turned in Bristol. Local councillors and the old political parties got a massive shock when the electorate handed them their arses on a plate when George Ferguson was voted in as Mayor. Bristolians basically told local politicians that they were ****ing useless and were holding the city back. First Glos. CC got planning permission to redevelop Nevill Rd, then we've got ours, so I fully expect (and hope) that the Teds get theirs. And I have to say.....Well done Nick Higgs! You've only gone and done something right!!
A massive well done to Higgs! he has done a very good job.. more than any other in the past! Now time to concentrate on the playing staff and get some players in and push up the league.. maybe this might help JW persuade players to the club??
Important now to get any local MPs (especially Tory) onside in case Pickles does any sounding out before giving his decision.
