I like Newcastle as a city and there are undoubtedly some dreadful parts of London but it's a very different city for a bloke making the money he is. Chances are he's got plenty of mates at clubs in London too plus he knows Redknapp who is quite probably more of a draw than Pardew. My point wasn't to be arrogant, though with that chip on your shoulder you were always going to jump to that conclusion. He's probably cup-tied in Europe too.

Not bad going getting to a home game, considering the cost of a ticket at QPR might be as expensive as the train down there! <ok>

Shopping facilities? If that's really a factor then London is possibly the best city in the world. I have been to Newcastle. It's a nice city and a lot of fun but if I were a millionaire foreigner with no connection to it I'd choose the capital.

If you have a boat you might survive when the sea rises in the next 30 years, however don't try sailing it up here because frankly we are not going to have it.

It's obviously a major factor but the way you lot are going on it's like he's chosen QPR over Manchester Utd.

I've been going on about sandwiches since yesterday afternoon horses for most of today! Now leave these boards you are as welcome here now as you will when I see you swimming towards dry land expecting help in a few years.

I don't think so. We were content to close discussion on the topic several hours ago! Most of us gave it up yesterday... If it wasn't for the QPR boys on the forum wanting to chat, we probably would be talking about something else, but we're nice like that! <hug>

We're just hoping we have a plan B and you don't need any more strikers! <laugh>

Us lot are having a bit chat on our own board, if you don't like what we're saying you don't have to stay and read it, you can go back to Watford and post on your own board. I know you've got some good posters on it because we get some of the better ones on here quite often.

Not at all, Man U are one of the few clubs who can persuade a player without dangling the bucks. I say fair play to QPR, they've paid mega money and that talks in football, I don't blame the fans for enjoying it. Its not their money and provided Fernandes doesn't do a Portsmouth on them its not their problem. He's a good signing, and you have to appreciate an owner who stumps up the cash to persuade French internationals to a club who are in such a precarious position. Particularly having already done so and watched it go tits up.

I think it is incredibly naive to think Harry, London or any other factors played a part. Two relegation threatened clubs offered a deal, he chose the one who paid the most and offered the best deal. Nothing unusual in that. Certainly not something QPR should be ashamed of as they are only playing the same money game many others have (including ourselves back in the 90's)

I don't dislike it. It just seems a bit deluded and, frankly, bitter from certain posters. It's always seemed like a board that accepts reasonable views from other fans without the need for an 'agree with us or **** off' mentality.

My second Premiership team is of course Newcastle and games I've seen at SJP not involving Q.P.R. have been:

94/95 - Newcastle 1-1 Man Utd (Kitson) - Mark Hughes for them.
    96/97 - Newcastle 1-1 Sunderland (Shearer)
    96/97 - Newcastle 5-0 N Forest (Sir Les 2, Asprilla, Shearer, Elliot)
    01/02 - Newcastle 1-0 Leicester (Solano)

    Seen 4 Newcastle v Q.P.R. games (3 Newcastle wins, 1 draw)

Newcastle are a pretty good second team, seats are reasonably priced and there's lots of them... And the atmosphere's mostly engaging as well, unless of course you're one of the "padded seat" lot!

My dad goes to all Newcastle vs Birmingham games at SJP, as he's a Brummy. He's only seen them win once (5-1), so hopefully we don't see them again for a while so that stat doesn't change!

Atmosphere was best at Tyne/Wear derby - then there was 100% Newcastle with the odd Mackem trying not to cheer. Also been to Bernabeau and San Siro.

Nice! Which games did you get to see there? Were the tickets reasonable prices?
