Now that Aluko is Injured i would like to know how many fans on here think if Koren is injured or is moved back into his preferred position then would they be happy with a partnership of Simpson and Proschwitz? or if been honest then who rates either of them at this moment in time has TOP championship strikers which you need to gain promotion. Personally looking at there all round games for me Simpson has not played badly but misses to many chances and Proschwitz who to be fair has scored a few goals but both times i have seen him play a full 90mins at Middlesbrough and Orient at home then his all round game has not be good enough although i do hope he continues to improve i do not think he is a top striker in this league. This for me says we need a new goalie and two strikers, i know its down to costs ect and it must be hard enough to bring in one but i just wanted to know the thoughts of others, Do you think we will get by with what we have? or do we need one or two strikers?
Phew - after reading all that (a para or 2 might help) I'd say: 1) Koren should play behind Der Bomber in the 3-5-1-1 (it's not 3-5-2). 2) The rest of the team stays as it is. Simmo has had more than enough chances but is getting worse by the week. It's almsot as if he knows he isnt getting a new deal and the pressure has got to him. And we dont know if Prosser is good enough or not. He had a run at the start of the season when we were a much worse team than we are now and he was feeding off scraps whilst learning a new league. He's barely strung 2 games together since. Give him 2 months continuous now no matter what as the main striker and if he doesnt perform then fine, but at least we'll know.
Suggest that we look at an "experienced" Freebie (Louis Saha type) and a "top championshp" proven scorer (Becchio type) or the like. Even if we get a Quality Premiership striker we should still have a "backup" of the Saha type for cups/injuries/rests/international duties etc.
Judging by that post, I'd say you want us to sign Louis Saha.... We now need two strikers, I think Simpson and Proschwitz will do fine at P'boro, but in the long run we now literally have no back up. And with Elmo being recalled, that means we now need two forwards, a RWB and keeper, all in January. It's a big ask and it's going to be interesting to see if the Allams give full support.
Not really all that bothered by Saha, just noticed he had been released today. But we need two, and loans now worry me (see Elmo/Stockdale etc.). Not a good day so far.
Proschwitz and Margetts up top, Bit of youth and enthusiasm and an uknown quantity to freshen it up hey ho might work . Koren back into Central Midfield, With Quinn to LWB and Brady RWB. Either that or were relying on Rosie no end product, or Cam Stewart to produce the goods.
I don't care about a strikers all round game if he scores goals regularly. I'm more worried by a striker who keeps missing easy chances or a goalkeeper who can't catch the ball. To be fair, Jakupovic did OK before Saturday.
I don't think we'll see Bruce make any dramatic change to the system or personnel yet. I imagine we'll simply see Simpson/Proschwitz come in for Aluko and Rosenior in for Elmo.
Its not a total disaster that Aluko is out. Some of you have quickly forgot about the games City Won when Aluko was out in December. 4 straight wins against teams much tougher than Peterboro and Barnsley dare i suggest ? Proschwitz has now to start if the Peterborough game goes ahead and with Barnsley up next that gives him a nice run of games. Lets see how Stewart responds in training with Elmo gone for now.
Well said. In fact it's probably time to re-assess the 3-5-2 as teams have figured it out.. Stewart has "responded", Prossie is warming up nicely, he can score & assist. Saha/Vaz Te to come in.
