what you have to think is: Is shumi better than- D'Custard Karthakeyen Maldonardo Liuzzi Trulli Glock Algersuari Buemi Sutil
The same could be said about your own comment (and now my response). It's only one comment (three now) out of 22 (23 now), on one thread out of dozens. And it's not exactly a hive of activity on here between race weekends. Unless the board was being bogged down by off topic threads and comment, which it isn't, I don't see what the problem is...
He is 42 and is beaten by his teammate every race. He should retire very soon. The ignorant answer ^^ Give him time, Mercedes are close to breaking into a world of pole position fighting and race win opportunities. Evil, heartless bastards like to put the middle-aged man (that entertains you on Sundays and risks his life with a family to look out for) into the ground. There are just a handful of people piping up after hearing a bunch of has-been's talking about the future of a legend, what have they achieved in life? Back off and give him a break, success will taste sweeter when you have traveled through pain and fought against all odds, mark my words guys.
'Evil, heartless bastards' 'has-been's talking about the future of a legend'. I've never thought of myself as that ! Well I am certainly in the autumn of my years - but a has-been? bit below the belt that! However I have been and done my share. Have a good life child !!
Haha! I'm sure Manny was not referring to the comments in this thread so much as the general tone of public criticism towards Schumacher and perhaps what he sees as the media's criticism in general. He knows this is just a forum to express opinion and that it is nothing personal. Nonetheless, it can be hard to find oneself supporting a minority view in the face of overwhelming evidence. Just in case my above sentence is wrong, I wish you well Manny and can personally assure you that I for one am not a "heartless bastard". Indeed, many of us here have previously expressed our sympathy towards your position. You know my view of Schumacher and I hope that you respect that. I know that you hold a different opinion but I certainly respect your view, even though I disagree with it. What matters is that we all find a way to get along here, regardless of our differences of opinion. Schumacher is not worth falling out about in a forum. Nor for that matter is any other driver (or footballer or snooker player etc.). We contribute to this forum because we share a common passion, and this is something to be celebrated; especially if we can find a way to get along in spite of the inevitable differences of opinion which bring us here. Good luck. Stay cool and find a way to enjoy the sport you so clearly love.
I think Manny's "has-beens" are Herbert, Brundle and Coulthard. Herbert said he expected Schumacher to retire at the end of 2011 and a number of media outlets linked that to Brundle's and Coultahrd's post-Turkish GP comments. The irony is that Schumacher's confirming race by race the justification to count him among their number.
Generally the answer is a, YES but NO but, let him prove to himself he was never as good as !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IMO he probably should have stayed retired in the first place. He had his time and built his legacy, there really wasn't any need for him to return. There are plenty of young up and coming drivers who deserve his seat.
Manny - I hoped that was what you meant. However we all have likes and dislikes, and form opinions. This is what cosicave is encouraging us to be reasonable about. This forum would be boring if you all just agreed with me - although my opinions are the best of course!! I do think you were too scathing to whoever you meant to attack. MSC was undoubted amongst the best drivers for a period of years - some of us do not think there was balance in how he achieved what he did. In fact we can question more than one title. Thats in the past - shame he has tried to roll back the years. I can't stand what he stood for - but accept you and hundreds of thousands of other fans worship him. We will not change each others opinions. I want to make postings in this place, and hope you will continue too.
As a Mod I feel I should raise the point that my opinions are the best As for changing peoples opinions... I've had my opinion changed by a good counter argument by other people, its a healthy way to go about our beliefs. This said we should never be afraid to voice our opinions, especially as its on what at the end of the day is just a sport which can be viewed from several angles.
I thought you was going to mention the fact we can edit posts then. BrightLampShade: Well we can do that too. I felt it more ironic to reply here
