Good day from a very cold but dry rural France. Lesson over for another week and no homework this time. ;)

I see that the official site is saying that we had 13,400 home fans at recent games, which on the face of it doesn't seem far short of the 15,000 that was talked about to get an East Stand. However I was reading that in the EJ and GT days attendances became stuck around the 10,000 figure when we were in the 2nd Division.

Even with the good football to be seen at the Vic these days, will we get to the 15k without promotion to the EPL?

i know of a few people who have started coming to the games to watch the football, and are not Watford fans. A few more of those would be good!

The football is good..... I think when people will cotton on they will return...

When we got relegated from the prem in the post GT era... .we had 14,000 hard core support..... I am not sure if we will get to that ..... but IF we go up I am sure we will get a few thousand more coming ...

At 3pm our boiler suddenly ground to a halt and the house began to get cold. Picked up the parish magazine and found a heating engineer's advertisement. Phone answered by the boss who said his son would call round the moment he'd finished his current job. He arrived a bit before 4, popped down the road to buy a new fan, and by 4.30 or so the job was done and the house beginning to warm up again. To say I'm pleased and impressed, and warmer, is an understatement <applause><applause>

I wouldn't have put it that low - even against the likes of Cambridge our crowds were around 13K & I can't believe that they would have brought 3K fans with them. The attendances did tail off towards the end of our second season in the division but were still healthier than that.

I was quoting from Enjoy the Game BB. It said that despite being in the top two in the division gates were lower than they had been in the lower divisions. EJ and GT couldn't understand why, but there was a bad recession in the country at the time that might have been the problem.

It did seem that the higher we went up the league, the lower our crowds were.:) The stat that sticks in my mind is: attendance at the game which won us promotion from Div 3 - 26K, attendance at the game which won us promotion from Div 2 - 20K, attendance at first game in the top flight - 19K. Have always found that odd.

I don't remember a recession though - I was over here on a 36 month sabbatical at the time - did find that wages were lower & cost of living higher than in Oz though.

Totally unrelated to anything at all - it appears that Tesco's have got themselves into a little hot water:

Not sure what all the fuss is about - horsemeat is very tasty in my experience.

Going back to the previous topic of low attendances - tonight's cup replay attendances were all very ordinary - although I suppose that the weather may have had a hand in that. Just under 9K at Brum, 11K at WBA, 11K at Stoke, 8K at Blackpool - no magic in this season's cup. :(

At 1:16am I doubt very much that I personally would be finding problems with the site! <laugh>

Am not too sure about displaying patience at that time of day either. ;)

Morning all from a very chilly West West London - it was -4C when I left bandit country and there was a heavy frost.

I see this Tesco burger story has got a few more legs! - what started as a trace of Horse DNA found in Ireland has turned into 30% horse meat in a burger in the UK and now traces of Pork! I checked my freezer for some burgers and they're off!
Other good news is that the dirty ones could only draw with Telford - hopefully it keeps them where they belong!

Thanks for the frothy AK - much appreciated
