Marseille striker Remy, 26, was due to sign for Newcastle but is set to join QPR for £8m, while Rennes midfielder M'Vila, 22, is expected to cost £7m. Redknapp said he was delighted to be signing players he has coveted before. "Remy has had a medical today, so that's all sorted," Redknapp said. "M'Vila, I think we're very close." Redknapp also told BBC Radio 5 live he had put in an offer to sign West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie. Loic Remy's heart scare Remy's future was thrown into doubt after he was diagnosed with a heart condition before moving from Nice to Marseille in August 2010. Following consultations with three cardiologists, Marseille's chief medical officer said that the player's problem would "not prevent him from doing his job". "We made an offer, but it was turned down, you have a right to make an offer. He's a good player." The Spurs boss is also still chasing West Brom defender Jonas Olsson and Tottenham midfielder Jake Livermore. Redknapp's team beat West Brom 1-0 to reach the FA Cup fourth round and maintain their unbeaten start to 2013. And afterwards the QPR manager said Remy had pedigree to succeed in the Premier League, despite QPR still at the bottom of the table. Rangers beat Newcastle to Remy after offering him a more lucrative contract, understood to be more than £70,000 per week. "Remy is a good player," he added. "Newcastle do very well in the French market as well with Graham Carr their chief scout, and he is a boy I looked at an awful lot while I was at Tottenham. "Last year we were talking about paying £20m for him. We looked at him, we liked him and we were chasing him but didn't quite get him. "I went to see him at Marseille last week and he wasn't keen but the chairman Tony Fernandes worked ever so hard. He wouldn't give up and the boy decided to come. "He's quick, a French international, his movement is excellent and he has the potential to be a real star in the Premier League." France international M'Vila is currently banned from international duty until June 2014 after he and four team-mates broke a curfew before a key game with the Under-21 side. But Redknapp said he had no qualms about the highly sought-after player. "He played against England a couple of years ago for France, and was fantastic," Redknapp said. "Rennes turned down £28m from an English club for him a year ago. Spurs offered £15m for him in August. The deal looks OK. "M'Vila's had a few off-the-field problems. Good to see that TF's enthusiasm for the task is still there. Should hopefully put the lid on his doubters. Personally I think (hope) all that has happened is that he has sensibly decided to keep a lower profile since our setbacks. We are so lucky to have him.

I don't think anyone has ever doubted his enthusiasm. It's whether his decisions are in the best interests of the club. I remember not too long ago we were rejoicing at the signing of granero. The only difference now is the targets are picked by Harry but we are still throwing silly money at the problem. I hope this works, for the sake of the club and the fans.
Said before that both TF and Amit said they had business stuff away from QPR and then they went silent and all the 'doom brigade' said they were leaving when in fact they were busy. As you said this puts it to bed.
The point surely is that he believes what he is doing is in the best interests of the club and is willing to back that with real money. You can't really ask any more of an owner than that. Anyone can suffer from bouts of incompetence or simply bad luck as was the case with his appointment of Hughes.

This is what he pays his managers (Sparky or Harry ) to do. TF pays them big money to manage.... Tony must trust them...otherwise you get the Scum situation where the owner says I want Torres, and he must play, regardless Harry wants these players, TF can only say either yes or "we can't afford them"...those are the only two decisions We THE FANS want Tony to say. Both are acceptable to us But the rest is down to Harry
I think things are a bit more complex than that. From todays Standard article for example: “I don’t know what the chairman and chief executive have done [regarding adding a release clause]. I don’t get involved in the contract side of it.” However, he knows not to get involved in the playing side and I am totally convinced that TF is both a good businessman and truly passionate about QPR.
This is the big difference between being a manager here and being a coach in the major European leagues - much more accountability and freedom for the manager here, which is why Guardiola wants to come and Mourinho wants to come back (he didn't get the full freedom with the Russian). Can't say which is the better model, but those clubs over here who appoint 'Directors of Football' to oversee transfers above the managers head always seen to me to be taking a risk - who gets the blame if it all goes wrong? No one but Harold to face the music here, just like Hughes did.
It is a lot different in Spain as you will know, the clubs are owned by club members and they elect a president. Nothing like over here where you just buy a club if you have wads of money
