    <laugh>

Actually the mummified remains covered in chocolate and nuts found in Egypt have been identified as those of Pharoah Rocher by archeologists.

A lot of banter about saying we may mutually agree to cancel Colo's contract.... There would be a riot in some parts if that happened....

There was lots about him not playing against Norwich, so hopefully it's information of that kind!

If we do agree to cancel his contract, it's an added nightmare...

Probably the first time we ever had any sympathy for Hitler!
(Despite my misery, I couldn't help but chuckle at the lady's comment to the crying girl!)

A brief update on the Colo situation.

Update: The Chronicle wrote on Wednesday morning that talks between Colo and NUFC would now not take place until next Monday.

Following the revelation that Fabricio Coloccini had set a deadline of leaving Newcastle this month, talks between Alan Pardew, club officials, the captain and his agent were scheduled for today (Wednesday).

Amidst widespread speculation over the precise detail of the personal reasons that caused Mrs Coloccini to quit Tyneside and return to her native Argentina, the only solid facts look to be that no written transfer request exist and no bids have been received for him.

Right then, if the club's options boil down to:

    a. insisting that a thoroughly unhappy Colo carry on, despite threats on his part that he may go walkabout a la Tevez; or

    b. accept a small wedge from Colo to allow him to go his way

which would you opt for ?

Have to be (b) for me, the guy's done us well and deserves some special consideration during his personal problems.

Let him go without a wedge, it'll make him want to come back as soon as possible.

Someone on here suggested compassionate leave. Why isn't that an option?

Well, it depends on whether Colo is interested in it or whether he wants out permanently.

It also does bugger all in terms of putting together a back 4 for the next 4 months

Option b. It all depends on the detail though and bar his wife being really ill I expect him to honour his responsibilities as club captain on a monsterous wage and see the season out to be honest. Life sucks sometimes but 5 months is not much to ask. That is working life at times unfortunately.

Hey guys, long time reader, first time poster. I heard Tim Vickery on talksport earlier talking about this. He's based in south America and mentions that there has been no press about Colo's 'ill' wife only about his strong desire to play for San lorenzo again. Basically the story is BS about personal reasons or is it just talks..... At it again?

We would be mad to let him go with no fee!!! It was mentioned that we may get first refusal on a few of their young players. MA business head kicks it action.......

I think it's obvous to an idiot that Mrs Coloccini's "illness" is non-existent.

If she IS sick, it's the most convenient illness in history, coming right on the heels of Pa Coloccini stating that his son was looking for an "elegant" way to leave Newcastle. What could be more acceptable and sympathy-eliciting than a wife with a mystery illness and "young children" pining for their mum?

I know I sound horrible -- I'm really not a cynical person, but the timing is an insult to the intelligence.

Yes, Juanjo 47, I also noted that comments from Argentina seem to suggest that the English have been mislead. Saw comments such as these on a San Lorenzo forum (translated from Spanish) : "We all think that these 'personal problems' are invented." and "In England it is said that the personal problem of Coloccini is a disease of his wife or an alleged infidelity. THIS IS TOTALLY FALSE."

The "sick wife" thing makes NUFC look heartless and self-serving if they suggest that Colo should live up to his responsibilities to the club.

Colo will be looking at taking a massive pay cut, even if he the club were to let him leave.

No one has any reliable information about what the reason for the desired move is, but it certainly isn't money and I very much doubt it's just wanting to play for dad's team. That means there is some very unusual motivation at work. Personal crisis of some sort is as likely an explanation as any
