I'd honestly rather sign nobody he's a untalented footballer and would result in more perhistoric tactics from Pardew. I want the club to teach the lads how to play football and move on before we get left too far behind.

This is hiilariously short sighted and is hardly worth a response, but let me spell it out for you.

Quick calculations show that QPR need to sell about 9,000 season tickets to pay for Remy's wages alone. That's half of their stadium. They continue to make the mistake of paying too much money for mercenaries who are only interested in money - they did it all summer, and they haven't learned. I suspect QPR will be relegated (doubt they can suddenly achieve top 6 form), and then they will be in serious trouble financially. even if Fernandes can cover the losses, financial fair play mean they will struggle to ever become a European competition club.

So, that ambition you're talking about?.... sounds more like stupidity to me.

They are one of the richest clubs in the world and the owner isn't bothered about losing money just like at City!! They have an ambition to get to the top and are prepared to throw money away.

This isn't a maths contest but if it was NUFC would be pretty good at it.

Hell I think we might even get some silverware.

Just because the owner is rich it does not mean the club will be rich enough to become a European force.

If the owner introduces money to the Company that is QPR, it will need to be done through a directors loan account, a fancy sponsorship deal (a la Man City) or possibly through a rights issue of shares. All these would be discounted by the fair play rules.

Granted, that would not affect the stability of the club as long as Fernandez is happy to pump in funds to the club and lose money, but it does affect the ability to play in Europe. It is that which players will be looking at when they chose a club.

I have nothing against QPR but if they keep making signings like this without increasing revenue, it will cost them in the long run.

The Remy stories have just about been done to death, but this one from NUFC.com adds a bit of humour to it all.

    A mush in Shepherds Bush:
    'Arry's cash & carry

A day that began with high hopes of United boosting their squad by completing the transfer of Marseille's Loic Remy ended with the French international forward apparently reversing an earlier decision to snub QPR and heading to Loftus Road to conclude a move there instead.

It's reported that the R's are offering a weekly salary in the region of £70-80K, far outstripping anything we were able to put on the table - even for Demba Ba, let alone a player who has never set foot in the Premier League.

In an attempt to keep their seat on the Premier League gravy train, the West London club are backing their boss to a massive extent and seemingly happy to insert a relegation clause allowing the player to walk.

Quite literally boom or bust and as we're continually told, Newcastle aren't in that business. We'll find out by May (our last away league game scheduled to be at Loftus Road) which strategy will bear fruit - maybe neither.

So just to recap, the geezer who contributed to Demba Ba's departure from SJP by revealing his release clause has now managed to prevent United from concluding a deal to sign his replacement. Funny old world, innit?

While there's an annoyance that we've lost out to that odious tw*t, the willingness of Remy (and his agent) to take the money and sign for a two-bit club playing in a Subbuteo stadium leads us to think that this isn't quite the end of the world.

And at the risk of sounding like sour grapes, if this lad was so hot (and his stats aren't anything special), then why are Marseille happy to sell him and accept less than half the supposed previous asking price for doing so?

Taking the moral high ground of course doesn't help our goals for column one iota and it remains to be seen what we'll manage to cobble together before the end of January - and whether negative results against Reading and/or Aston Villa will result in last-minute panic buying, or the now-familiar litany of excuses for failing to get targets "over the line".

Although the Remy deal isn't quite concluded yet and may yet have another twist, it's interesting to contrast this to the signing of Papiss Cisse 12 months ago. That saw no quotes from club officials or colleagues and the details thrashed out in private - with the result that the first most folks knew of our dealing was at his unveiling.

Can anyone really blame Remy, 80K odd a week is a lot of money. Throw in a release clause and he's laughing. All he has to do is play well and he'll either be staying in the PL with them, or moving to another in the PL with no barriers.

    Fair enough for me.

exactly the fact is that both clubs are **** and offer a relegation battle, money and a chance to show off for bigger clubs in the league that he will hop to go to after a season or two anyway so he may aswel take the money while he's doing it.

I mean our players are all saying more less come and get me at the end of the season so signing players is just a revolving door for us - Ba out sign a striker Simmo leaving sign a RB . It's ma waste of time squad wise so we may aswel just not bother and have summer sale. then we an all discuss the wonders of NUFC of its finacial stabilty rather than the team and clubs footballing position.

<laugh> To be honest I think the lad deserves some kind of award. To get into that kind of shape whilst still training every day is remarkable. Supposedly it was the drink. I have my doubts though. George Best was pissed for his whole life and never got in that kind of shape whilst playing. My money is on kebabs, McDonalds and pies when sozzled. And crisp sandwiches. Everyone loves crisp sandwiches.

It would be nice to know that it's all over, one way or the other.

Then we can move on, and focus on other media driven speculation over who we will/wont be signing.

    The silence is deafening/excruciating!!
