    Newcastle United V Reading FC

    Saturday 19th January 2013

    Kick Off 3pm @ SJP

    Squad
The usual suspects are still out as are HBA and Simmo. Tiote is also out as he is still away at the ACON.
Shola and Cabaye look set to return, with the word on the street that SAylor may be involved at squad level only.

I actually think we will draw this game 1-1. It will be nervy, unpleasant at times but we will only manage a draw.

I'm hoping for a win of course but I jus think that, with everything going on right now, confidence will be in short supply.
Not doing a Mr T or anything but I have a niggling feeling it will be low scoring and a draw.

Reading caused us a lot of problems away from home, they love wing play, and considering Santon and Debuchy went flying forward with abandon against Norwich, I think it might be difficult to stop them scoring. If we draw, I think it'll be a high scoring game, but I'm hopeful of a comfortable win here to ease the nerves. 3-1.

Were ****ed and the teams around us are playing well, however this is a home game and we get sneak a win but if wwe don't and play badly the writing is on the wall for Pardew as we need to change something rather than might lift the players in any way shape or form.

A win for us, either 2-1 or 3-1.

It'll make a massive difference having Cabaye back, as he proved with his cameo role at Norwich he can turn things around for us with a moment of magic.

Agree totally. If Cabaye had been fit or we had an adequate replacement we wouldnt be anywhere near where we are at the moment. His position is obviously important for most clubs but considering how AP sets us up its particularly important for us, and something I worried about at the start of the season.

As a lot of people don't like opening links, this is the story behind LE's link.

STEVEN TAYLOR is hoping to make his return to first-team action against Reading on Saturday.

The Whitley Bay lad trained with the first-team group amid snowy scenes at the club’s Benton base yesterday alongside skipper Fabricio Coloccini, and the duo could be given the nod to resume their partnership against the Royals at St James’ Park.

Taylor has been out of action since the awful 2-0 defeat at Southampton when he sustained a hamstring injury.

And the Magpies have missed the former England Under-21 star’s contributions in one of their worst runs in Premier League history.

Pardew told the Chronicle: “We’re hoping Steven is back for Reading – but we’ll see.”

The United boss had hoped that Taylor would be back for the weekend’s 0-0 draw at Norwich City. But Mike

Williamson started the game alongside unsettled Argentinian Coloccini in the heart of defence.

United hope to get Coloccini’s future sorted out one way or another this week.

And the Chronicle understands that talk of an exit has not altered the South American’s professional outlook on day-to-day life at Benton.

Pardew will hope he can field his strongest defensive line-up available in the next two games.

The re-emergence of Danny Simpson at the training ground after a broken toe will also give the Newcastle manager an extra option, although he is considered unlikely to be fit for Saturday.

Simpson’s contract is up at the end of the season and the arrival of Mathieu Debuchy means he will probably be on his way this summer.

Of course, interested clubs can also attain the services of Simpson in the January window at what would be a knockdown fee.

Newcastle would not turn down the chance of a fee and the chance to reduce their wage bill with other targets in mind this month.

Steve Harper, Xisco, Paul Dummett and youngster Dennis Knight are also out of contract at the end of the campaign.

Meanwhile, youngster Remie Streete’s injury in the Under-18’s win over Manchester City has turned out to be a non-serious hamstring tweak.

It'll make a hell of a difference having Colo and Taylor together again.

10-1 maybe, going to be hard to keep a clean sheet when everybody is trying to get a goal.

Poor results, poor performances, sold our top scorer, Captain Colo asking to leave, Krul & Santon possibly having their heads turned by Milan, Benni still out and hinting at leaving to fulfil his childhood dream, Tiote away on international duty, other injuries still keeping players out.

    Hmmmm.

You know, I genuinely think this will be one of those freak results where everything goes right.

    I'm predicting a 4 goal winning margin. 4-0 or maybe 5-1.

This game is getting bigger by the day. I reckon 2-1, but they will be difficult, they seem to love being up against it.
