So, my missus is more than ready to drop (yesterday was the due date), and we are both pretty done with waiting. I know 40 weeks +1 day, is hardly a big wait/deal. But she really just wants it to end.

She's tried raspberry leaf tea, clary sage oil massaged into the feet and calves, hot curry, walking around the block a few times and bouncing on the birthing ball. So far, nothing. Not even a twinge.

I know they say sex is the best method, but sadly she has no interest in trying this.

Any of you guys and gals with kids have any other suggestions?

All advice/suggestions would be most appreciated.

Curry is always the one they say does the trick. However I just think some bloke invented that rumour as a way of getting his way at a time when it was not possible to.

I can't comment as my good lady was a bit of a breeze (she admits it herself). She just rang me up and said "come home we need to go to hospital". Off we went and after 23mins of labour we had a littleun. All quite impressive really and didn't disrupt my day at all. They kept them over night and I was kicked out. So I went home, had a bottle of wine, watched some footy, had a curry and played some video games.

Sex is meant to be really good for inducing labour, tell her its for the greater good

WOW! That sounds almost pleasant! I don't know whether telling the missus about your lovely experience will make her feel better, or worse?! The negative stories seem to upset her, so maybe a positive one wont?

Yeah, the curry one seems a bit implausible. Though, I suspect the clary sage oil massaged into the feet, is the womens equivalent. There's no way that can have any impact on labour, they just want a nice foot massage!

Yeah, apparently semen is the most effective thing, and is the most effective when ingested (seriously!). Every time I suggest it, she calls me a perv/creep. She obviously doesn't want it to end that badly! ;)

little whack&blite will come into this world when he or she is good and ready. As l recall the run up towards the end of pregnancy is usually uncomfortable for the mum to be, who just wants it over and done with.
At some point these feelings tend to be overtaken by the mum to be suddenly feeling really well and full of beans. She may go into overdrive and start spring cleaning the house early etc, at this point take off is not normally far off. so if she reaches for the Mr Sheen anytime soon.............
Anyway good luck to you both on your impending bundle of joy x

Yeah I'd probably steer clear of telling her my story. They can be a bit unpredictable at this stage. You have been lulled into the false sense of security of thinking "right she doesn't like negative stories, I'll mention a positive one". Believe me you'll be seen to be belittling the whole traumatic experience she has been through. Another tip don't ever utter the words "Just keep breathing babe" once you are in that delivery suite. My mate did this and reckons it was like something off The Exorcist as she uttered the immortal line "**** off, try sitting here and then we'll see if you remember to breathe" whilst her eyes blazed up! <laugh>

    She is definitely uncomfortable!!
That seems like good advice. I hadn't heard about the burst of energy - so that'll be a good sign to look out for.

I know the little one will come when their ready. Just hate to see her so uncomfortable and fed-up!

Thanx for the advice and well wishes!

And if she still doesn't agree to the sex, I hope the labour goes well anyway <laugh>

You're not wrong about the unpredictability - she is a bit all over the place, which is to be expected. That's another good tip, re: "keep breathing". I'll have to remember that. Probably best to speak when spoken to kind of thing. Or just say encouraging things, rather than advice.

Thank you WP, very much appreciated!

When she is in the full throws of labour, she is highly likely to remember that it was you and the "sex thing" that got her into this mess in the first place. This remembrance is then followed by the immortal saying "if you ever come near me again, lll cut it off you so and so"
But, rest assured my friend, that once baby is here, all will be forgiven and forgotten.... well usually lol

    Lol been there said that.

whack&blite Your lucky if a baby comes on time. My oldest came 13 days late and the youngest came two days early.
Hard but be patient and all the best to you and Mrs whack&blite.

I know it's a bit of a lottery, and that generally the first born is late. So, we'll just have to try our hardest to be patient.

    Thank you!
