I read somewhere that Porto had made players sales of €800m over the past 9 years! Fantastic business. We also must remember that Portguese and Spanish clubs will find it easier to attract the South American stars because of things like the climate, the language, work permit issues etc.
If we are any good, there should be ways round it, how the f**k did United sign the Da Silvas at 17. We could buy players form SA and then loan them to Portugal Spain etc
14:30 GMT: Guillem Balague has tweeted to say: "Can confirm that Loic Remy has chosen QPR ahead of Newcastle United." Whilst, Sky Sports are reporting that he is having his medical at QPR today. So what the **** happened here???? Did Tony Fernandez hijack the cab?
Those are two players who not more than a yaer ago were linked with the big name teams. Does QPR have that much cash or that much to spend ont he wages?
I also feel that goes to show if you splash some cash you can get quality players and not be in CL. Ramirez, M'Vila, Remy, Ben Arfa are perfect examples of that.
Clearly so.. I remember M'Villa being linked to Arsenal and Newcastle a lot in the summer. I would say good business by QPR if they get both but with the money they have, it wouldn't particularly be good work on their behalf.
Ramirez hasn't done enough for me to completely agree with you on that, and I haven't seen loads of Remy and M'Villa but HBA I'll definitely agree with you on
Forget about him playing for Southampton, before he went there it was Us and City who were battling it out is what I meant and he chose.................. SOuthampton. Cabaye left a CL team for Newcastle is another one. Spurs got Dembele who is quality ( in the league but still), Asamoah Gyan was a good player and Sunderland snagged him up, after an impressive world cup as well.
Ive heard Rodgers was pleading to FSG to make more funds available for this month. FSG have concerns on his summer buys.FSG are looking at options of bringing in Director of football into the club. The original plan.
Yeh I understand that, if I'm honest I hadn't seem much of him before he went Southampton. I knew people raved about him and remember seeing his free kick for Uruguay (can't remember what it was for though - thinking the Olympics). Now I ain't being funny but he ain't particularly going to shine at Southampton, not like he would at City. However I understand the point you're making, I rated Dembele a lot when he was at Fulham and was gutted when Spurs got him. It's just a shame we can't spot talent when we see it and we have to go for overpriced English players instead.
14:59 GMT: Real Madrid are prepared to release outcast Kaka on a free transfer this January according to El Economista, the Real hierarchy are reportedly fed up with the Brazilian's costly wages and poor performances after he was sent off at the weekend against Osasuna. hmmmm, where will he go....
Not a betting man, but I'd sau he's likely to go back home to Brazil.. Their economy picking up, the top teams there can pay a decent wage now (maybe not bigger than the top Euro leagues) but they'll be at home, in the nations eyes, ready for a chance to get picked for the 2014 World Cup.
I think this as well. Just not sure which team, with Lucas Moura (AM) leaving for PSG that could free up Kaka's almighty return to Sao Paulo.
Tony Barrett says: - Assaidi has no genuine physical presence and Rodgers doubts that he is cut out for English football. - There does not appear to be any plans in place to target players who specialise in brekaing up play (DM). - Ayre held talks with Diame in Spring but talks collapsed when Dalglish lost his job. - Gerrard is at the stage of his career where he needs to rely on others, but all he sees is the arrival of players who rely on him.
