Changing the COC like that would completely devalue it to the level of the JPT and it would just be a nothing trophy. The league cup already suffers from abysmal prize money and the only real trophy is a spot in Europe for unfashionable mid to lower prem teams and decent championship sides. If you took the premier league sides out, tv company's wouldn't give a toss about it whatsoever and the teams like Bradford who have done so well will suffer dramatically from the loss of TV revenue when their games are broadcast live. I'm sure if the COC was as you proposed, Bradfords summer budget would shrink considerably. Instead of completely butchering an already poor competition, why not just add the championship to the JPT and try to improve an abysmal one? It would, in effect, be the same thing. To move on to a different point now, I was thinking the FA should penalise clubs for fielding weakened teams like the premier league do, that would help force the hands of the favourites in each fixture to play a proper team and bring the excitement, wow factor and presumably the fans back to the FA cup and restore it to the glorious competition it once was.
Championship teams have too many games to compete in the JPT trophy too. I know Leagues 1 & 2 play the same amount of league games but they don't have as many international players. Do FA cup winners still get a European place?
Can't fault that argument, and in all honesty, I forgot about the JPT. Adding the Championship to the JPT would work, and fining is a good idea. I just question why the COC is known as the "League Cup" when Premier League sides are involved? They aren't classed as Football League in any other circumstances apart from the COC. I can't see any changes until FFP comes into action. I think the Cup will be evaluated closely when teams can no longer record a certain amount of loss in their turnover.
I agree with this. Abolish the FLT/JPT and make the League Cup into the one cup competition exclusive to the Football League.
It's called the league cup because it only involves the 92 professional clubs in England's professional league system, the fa cup involves every club from every league right down to the bottom of the ladder.
I think Blunderside said the team travelled down yesterday, does anybody know who didnt go with the rest of the team?
Who ever plays will be on decent contracts playing for a Championship club and should go out there tonight desperate to show they deserve a place in our champioship Team after the first game at the KC they should roll up there sleeves and get stuck into a side a league below us, its because of our below par performance at home that we are now having to go and be in a difficult battle in London and its up to each one of them to make up for it
I'm guessing; Jacko Rosie McShane Bruce Dawson McKenna Oli Cairney Simpson Prossie Stewart I would drop Oli or McKenna (probably Oli) for Quinn though; Jacko Rosie McShane Bruce Dawson Stewart McKenna Cairney Quinn Simpson Prossie That team is more than capable of beating Orient. With a bench of; Cracknell, Chester, Hobbs, Evans, Oli, Wilson, Cullen. Very similar to last week. Koren, Aluko, Brady and Meyler haven't travelled. I doubt Faye will have either.
Same team again it appears. Put right what they messed up @ the KC. Orient missing Kevin Lisbie (injured) and Andy Griffith (suspended). I expect a reaction tonight.
Maybe there will be a better performance after Saturday's debacle. Players like Prozzy, Simpson, Macca, Bruce, Cairney, Oily and even Stewart might think their chances are better than before the previous leg if they can produce tonight. I only wish Oxley was available because a stand-out perfomance by him would have given him a very good chance of a starting spot at Peterborough.
Ah Burnsy's recovered then...I was on his show for the first hour on Monday and off the mic, he said he was still shell shocked from Saturday! I hope to god whatever team we put out we don't go out tonight. I think we'll do it 2-1
Replies may be short and sweet tonight, I've actually decided to go to the match, so I'm on my Smartphone. Difficult business. I don't know why I bring myself to these matches, if we lose, I'm in a rotten mood for a week or so until we win again! I believe we'll rectify our recent wrongs tonight though, City to win, scrappy 2-1. Late goal from Proschwitz. Simpson to get the first. (Yes, Simpson scoring)
Play some of the young hungry players, not the overpaid mercenarys who dont give a toss (oli) Wouldnt mind seeing margetts get a chance, as well as Wilson again. What about Max Clark? and has Connor townsend gone back out on loan?
It'll be interesting to see if/where Cameron Stewart plays tonight. I for one hope that Bruce realises he's never going to be a left wing back and sticks him upfront instead.
