Rumours are that QPR met with Loic Remys representatives today and have laid out a Lucrative contract, but apparently Newcastle have already agreed a transfer fee of £8.3 million.
Seems like far too big a gamble for me especially with another 8m going on M'Vila who is also big gamble.
Newcastle agreeing, probably means in principle, with personal terms being discussed, so no binding contract yet. Love it if we could gazump Pardew!
If Cisse goes to Turkey then we can offset his wages etc. against the cost of Remy. At least Loic knows Harry wants him and he will be guaranteed to play every time, whereas at Newcastle he won't, and also not necessarily in his favourite position. So maybe just maybe.
I've just said on another thread that it now seems clear that the board are going to gamble more money to try to stay up. No planning for the Championship it seems!
Its do or die mate.....next year the money in the Premier League is like winning the lottery and they dont want to miss out on that. TF and Co are throwing in all the chips. Im confident that we are better than the other 6 teams around us and they clearly think the same.
Indeed.....players like M'Villa and Remy are the sort of calbre I would of expected us to get this summer, had we had a comfortable season and were looking to build on it....will be quite suprised if we pull those 2 off.....along with Olson, thats a very successful January window.
i think they have got to gamble & with that money next year, you live once lets go for it & sell off some of the dead wood, but get them in quickly as well.
Very true although I'm not too convinced on TF's gambling skills. Best hand over the chips to Harry who was born for it
Im getting a bad feeling about all this and its making me feel uncomfortable. We are talking close to 15 million if we buy both. Scary if one of them pulls a hamstring in the first week and what about a few decent defenders??
Its at worst a six month loan, as if come the end of the season you're relegated then you can sell both players without a loss to a premier league club. However if all goes to plan and you stay up, then you have two quality players for next season.
Gives both players 5 months to showcase their wares for bigger and better clubs If that is the deal...it is a win win situation But M'vila, Remy and Livermore....where is the CD or two
That's quite a statement to make mate. The table would suggest otherwise. I disagree with that. This market is always overinflated. If we go down, we won't recoup our outlay. We might only get back half of what we've spent. Don't want to put a downer on it but that's my experience of these windows. Its an all or nothing gamble as far as I'm concerned.
The table represents the 1st half of the season, for which most was managed by that clown Hughes. Fortunetely for us the teams around us have been so poor that we are still in the game......I feel if we get some of the players we need and with Harry in charge, we will have a better 2nd half to the season than them. Villa and Reading to go down....just hope we arent the 3rd.
On paper the players in our squad should be challenging for a top 10 place, but so many of them have under performed and I hope these 3 don't fall into that category or else we are royally ****ed!
Sounds like TF and the board are going for it. Hope they get it right this time. Agree with Beth though, where are our central defenders?? Even more important now Nelsen will be leaving us.
