A couple of pages back when you were going on about how RvP is more creative than Suarez because he has more assists.

I think you'll find I made no such argument. I argued Suarez has contributed less because, well, he has contributed less. And even less after today.

Fact remains your inability to finish is only part of your problem. Your players, mainly Suarez, create bags and bags of half chances but very few clear cut chances compared to the top clubs. IIRC the stats from open play are Suarez has created 50 chances, of which 10 have been clear cut chances, whilst RVP has created 22 chances, 9 of which have been clear cut, with RVP contributing plenty more from set piece delivery as well. Suarez has also taken 50% more shots on goal compared to RVP to get fewer goals.

Imagine where you guys could be in the table if Suarez created a few more good chances instead of half chances, and turned a few of those wasted shots into chances too...

Suarez is not as well supported as Van Persie is by other players. So where Van Persie has about 3 or 4 very good players to pick out in the box, Suarez has maybe 1 player in the box and that guy is usually heavily outnumbered by opposition defenders. Makes it all the harder for him to create a clear cut chances in comparison to Van Persie.

Utd deserved to win yesterday based on our terrible showing in the first half alone. RVP took his goal well while Suarez lacked service, especially in the first half. Both are world class, if slightly different players.

My key takeaway though is that while I accept that Utd, deserved to win, I was not very impressed with them at all, the fact that they are 7 points ahead in the league actually points to the decline of the EPL more than anything else.....They are average, that is all.....it's just that everyone else is below average right now; this is not a dig, it's obviously enough and that's all it needs to be here....Europe is another story....although who would of backed Chelsea at this time last year!?

Don't agree. I reckon Reina had it covered had it not taken the deflection.

Do any Liverpool supporters live/work in Newcastle? I'm up there tomorrow for a client meeting, so could meet for a beer afterwards. I've a sneaking suspicion that you may be up there Jonesey

Not a great weekend. Spent £540 on a new cooker and fridge freezer on Saturday, didn't see the girls, my mate with cancer is in hospital with pneumonia and we got beaten (fair and square) by the scum. Other that that, yeah great <doh>

    Good God no.

I live in the sunny South mate - Bristol.

I'd love to meet up for a beer, but an 8 hour return trip is really going to piss the wife off <ok>

RvP great striker, one of the best in the world at what he does. Fact:)
Can go missing for entire games ala Rooney if supply is cut off Fact:)
No one is taking anything from RvP, but United's delivery and ability to pick players out from wide positions is far superior to Liverpools ability to do those things.. Fact.

RvP would have less goals than Suarez if he played for Liverpool, I think that is also true.
Suarez is a very good footballer, van Persie is a very good striker.
