A million miles away from the schoolboys we have atm in Allen and Hendo, Sneijder would really give them some know-how.

Re Gerrez, I understand the sentiment but Gerrard's on 120k! I think if we could get him for 8 million at 140 over 5 years (perfectly acceptable) would work out at 7.8million a year all-in for having Sneijder in our team and getting nothing for him if he were to walk away at 33. Bargain imo.

That's a pretty exotic name for our 'scouts'. If they can't pronounce it, they're not interested

Ohhh now we are talking! Bilbao are struggling as well. If not Isco, Ander Herrera and Muniain I would take in a heartbeat.

It's quite remarkable about Bilbao have gone from Europa League Champions to 14th in La Liga.

They have some fantastic youngsters that we should really go for, considering their position.

Isco would be too difficult IMO. Fantastic player but I think there are a lot of teams after him, teams which can offer him CL football.

Erm, they lost the final to Atl. Madrid but I understand the point, lol. I heard that the players got a bit disenfranchised with Bielsa's methods and running them into the ground.

Think they have just slipped away enough that we could sneak in with a bid for the players mentioned.

  8. Can't say I disagree but just don't see FSG going for it.

I'm not quite as clear cut as that myself, Sniejder is/was a quality player and if we could get him playing like he's been in the last two, three or four years then he would 100% be worth every penny! He would be our RvP! I have no doubt whatsoever that he could link up with Gerrard, Suarez and co, the only question mark is the quality of the player nowadays. Can't see us signing him on more than the captain though, having said that Rodgers wants to renew Gearrard's contract, can you see him taking a pay cut <doh>

    Ooops my bad!!

But still, Bielsa did a great job of turning them into a fantastic team with a great style. Surely the players would have bought into his methods and realise it was working?

    Strange!

  10. This comment is a bit of a grind on me. What do you think we would be signing him for? To sustain our current position? <doh> We would obviously be signing these players to get into the CL, so why can't we offer CL football?

PS...not a dig at you Jimmy, just moaning in general <ok>

These **** leagues with loads of money are starting to ****ing piss me off. Nene is a quality player but come get this easy money.....

13.51 GMT Some light reading for you here as our PSG blogger Jonathan Johnson reflects fondly on Nene and Guillaume Hoarau's time at PSG and wishes the departed pair bonne chance in Qatar and China respectively

    It would be very risky.

Problem is, I question his attitude. He seemed to be willing to leave Inter Milan for Turkey because he didn't want to take a pay cut?

If he was willing to take a pay cut to join LFC, it would indicate that he is more interested in reviving his career than chasing money.

If only Gala wasn't involved we could have probably try to pull off a loan deal. But i'm against the idea of buying him on a permanent basis. We are much better off trying to sign someone like Isco or Eriksen in the summer window. They are much younger and could only get better. Best thing would be to use Suarez as an AMC and try to sign Gameiro on loan and use him as a winger. And a lineup like this looks enticing

    Borini-Sturridge-Gameiro
    Suarez

In the summer we could go for Isco/Eriksen and a replacement for Gerrard in Benat or Strootman.
I should have been scout

    I hear you mate.

But there are teams that are able to offer CL football straight away.

There are teams in a better position than us. We would be a very risky choice for any top class prospect. Haven't been in the CL for 3 years - what would give you the impression that we would get into it anytime soon?

I agree. If not signing Sneijder now meant that we could go for someone like Eriksen in the summer, then I'd be happy (Having a crystal ball would be handy now!).

True but it's a win-win in that case? If he joins gala then we dodged a bullet/money grabber if he joins us then he's ready to get down to business in the best league in the world.

Incidentally, I wonder how much we would make off shirt sales if he were to join? I reckon he'd sell more than Suarez did when he joined, and that was a fair few

  18. But then it depends on how you sell the club to that player. Would you rather join a team that is already winning or join a good side that could be winning and be the hero signing that helps make it happen? For example, Michael Owen has has a full trophy cabinet including a a Premier League title. Obviously he trained hard for years to get where he was but in a playing for that team sense, did he earn it? I don't think he did. On the other hand, Alan Shearer joined a newly promoted mid-table Blackburn side and helped them win the league. Despite all the money BRFC pumped in at that time, I know which one of the two medals I would prefer because one player earn't it and the other didn't!

I guess it depends on the individual players mentality <ok>

We should put a CL clause in. He can have 170k if we get CL and 120k if not. That would give him a kick up the arse
