Away to Blackpool next who appear to be in some turmoil. Certainly not at their best at the moment and we should be able to get a return from it.
Hope so RB. Still managerless at present although apparently given permission by Dundee United to talk to their manager Peter Houston. Never heard of him as he played all his football in Scotland. He is the longest serving manager in the Scottish Premier League - for now. The longer they delay appointing the better for us. Most sides get a boost in their first game once a new manager is in place. On a similar topic the Wurzels have got Sean O'Driscoll as their new man.
At the moment I feel we can get all 3 points from this one. Having said that it sounds like the lads need a kick up the ass after hearing the reports on the Ipswich game.
I'm sure Malky will have a suitable remedy. Seems like they need a kick up the jacksy every 3 or 4 games. Strange though, they had 11 days without a game and played like they had been up against Barcelona on Friday night. Lethargy and complacency ruled, well they would if they could be bothered. Blackpool are on a poor run having not won since beating Blackburn on 15th December. Also, they have Fulham in the cup replay tomorrow so another draw, extra time and penalties would be a good thing for us.
We are capable of getting three points to keep that gap at the top. Eleven wins needed from the remaining nineteen games.
There's a part of my anatomy that's shrinking back to whence it came from at the thought...but I'm sure the lads will do it. Remember, if we have to do that then the chasing pack have to do better, and us worse, to beat us to the promised land...oh gawd!
I cannot see anything but a Cardiff win at Blackpool, they like to spray the ball about and that will suit us. 2 - 0 comfortable.
Blackpool into extra time!!! Don't get too tired lads, don't want you knackered by Saturday. Penalties would be good for further mental strain. Palace also into ET but now 2 - 1 down. QPR and Bolton both win, Jay scores for QPR and Sordell gets a double for Bolton (up goes his value again). Hull into ET also and Leeds win so have a cup tie at home to Spurs on 26/27th before playing us. Mostly working in our favour so far. Blackpool lose after extra time - must be gutted and still no new manager. They want to talk to Robinson from MK Dons but will he want to leave yet having got his club into the 4th round of the cup - away at QPR? Jerome netted the 4th for Stoke after coming on as sub. Will he stay or will he go?
TEAM NEWS Blackpool caretaker manager Steve Thompson has a near fully-fit squad to choose from for the game with Cardiff. Winger Matt Phillips (toe) and defender Ian Evatt (bruised knee) are his only absentees. Cardiff manager Malky Mackay has one injury to contend with, striker Nicky Maynard (knee), who has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Mackay must decide whether to start striker Tommy Smith, who returned from injury on the bench last week. MATCH FACTS Head-to-head • Cardiff recorded their biggest ever victory over Blackpool in September with a 3-0 triumph at the City of Cardiff Stadium; Matthew Connolly scored twice and Pete Whittingham once. • Now the Welsh club are pursuing their fifth league victory at Bloomfield Road in their history, to complete a second double over the Seasiders in six seasons. • The last three Championship clashes on this ground have been 1-1 draws. Blackpool • Managerless Blackpool are without victory in seven in all competitions (D3, L4), since beating Blackburn, 2-0 at home, on 15 December. • The Seasiders have drawn more games than any other club outside the top nine, but are also unbeaten at home against top-half sides. • The Bloomfield Road club have allowed opponents to score first in 17 of their 27 games. Cardiff City • Cardiff have a commanding lead at the top of the table having picked up 13 points from an unbeaten last five games, and have lost only one of the last 12. • The Bluebirds are vying for a 200th away win in second level league football, and are enjoying their best season at this level for 53 years. In 1959-60, they were on equivalent points and went on to gain promotion to the top-flight; the last occasion they achieved such a feat. • Mark Hudson is poised to make his 300th career league start.
with the bad pitch and the weather it may come down to set pieces or as a rsult of them I'll have Blackpool 1 - 3 Cardiff City. I bet that shocked you? lol Whittingham Smith/Noone (Which ever is playing, if both then Smith) and Hudson please.
All the result this afternoon went our way! Lets make it pay and get all 3 points and extend our lead.....
Two of the results have gone our way, Hull and Palace drawing could see us going 10 points clear when we win this one!
And Brighton haha like to have a big gap between us and anyone in the play offs or around it! Plus M'Boro isn't a bad result sort of knocks them out of the auto spots now I think it's a 3 horse race! And Hull only picking up 2 points in 9, losing there loan players and one of there top players Aluko for 6 weeks I think they might start to tail off if they don't strengthen they rely too much on loan signings, and we all know how risky that is! I'm just watching Watford they are flying.
Turner has a hammy and Bellamy a stomache bug. Plenty of movement up front which should give the pool back 4 a hard time especially as 3 of the 4 first choice are out ill. The pitch looks like the beach. Just hope the back 4 for pool are donkeys.
