An un-named Russian club triggered Messi's release clause by offering £225,000,000 for him!

this is a story from 28 December, 2012

It’s Anzhi, who wanted to cash in for Messi

The Spanish media have discovered the name of the Russian club, who offered Barcelona an unbelievable €250 million for the transfer of world’s top footballer, Lionel Messi. Of course, it was Anzhi Makhachkala.
*On Thursday, El Mundo Deportivo reported that an unnamed Russian club tried to lure Messi away from Barcelona when he was negotiating a new deal with the Catalan side.
If the Argentine accepted the record salary €30 million per year, Barca would have to let him go due to the huge sum offered for the transfer.
Messi prolonged his deal with the Catalans until 2018 in the end, but, according to the paper, Anzhi’s owner, Suleyman Kerimov, says the proposal is still in place.
The 25-year-old attacker gave up the idea of moving to Russia’s Republic of Dagestan because of the Makhachkala side’s vague prospects of participation in major international competitions as well as weather and the language barrier.

‘Messi too short, Ronaldo useless’ – Ibrahimovic

Headline grabbing Swedish striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has lashed out at two of the world’s best footballers Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
*“Messi may have four Golden Balls, but I don’t have to get on a box to buy a chocolate bar in a vending machine,” Ibrahimovic is cited as saying by Argentinean Canchallena website. "As for Cristiano Ronaldo, he’s a privileged spectator, who only watches how Messi receives all his awards. He doesn’t deserve to be in the top three, there are at least ten people better than him."
1.69-meter tall Messi won his fourth straight Golden Ball award (given to the best footballer on the planet) on January 7.
The Argentinean’s Barcelona teammate, Andres Iniesta, and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo finished as the runners up for the prestigious prize.
Ibrahimovic, who didn’t make it into the top three this year, is well known for his temper and controversial statements.
The PSG star also called Man City player Mario Balotelli a “mediocre” player and made some revealing statements about former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola, in his autobiography.
