Jonathan Northcroft from The Times has further reiterated that LFC have a very strong interest in Kevin Strootman ...

AM if I'm not mistaken. PSV have some good players in general, don't know too much about him though. Still prefer Isco/Erickson.

MOre of a CM, Isco more of a winger/AM and ERiksen is more of an AM.

Feels a bit quiet around LFC........ too quiet.

I believe he is more of a central midfielder? Posesses great passing ability but is also a ball winner. He can play deep or higher up the pitch. I don't see him as the dedicated Number 10, someone like Eriksen is more suited to that role. Perhaps we should just get both <ok>

    2011/12 Season:

Strootman had 1742 touches on the ball which was the 4th highest in the league.

He also had the most tackles (98) which was the highest.

Trying to dig out more stats but the above stats highlight that Strootman can tackle but is also comfortable on the ball.

He would be the Number 10 that Rodgers is after. But there is the risk of another Joe Cole on our hands. Sneijder is definitely a better player but he has been injured in the past season, not had a lot of minutes and there are questions over his attitude.

I think a loan or a short term deal could be beneficial but I can't see the board wanting to spend huge wages on him.

Sneijder is 10 times the player joke hole ever was. Agree his wages are high but the boost he would give our team and overall moral would be incredible. Plus at 28 he's still got 4 whole years till he reaches Gerrard's age and he's still going!

  14. I just don't see it as a sensible move unless it was another loan which it won't be. I'd love to see Sneijder in a Liverpool shirt, he is my favourite player of the last three or four years, but he's not what he was.

It would probably be about a £8m-£12m fee and £180k per week wages. Say we sign him on a four year deal, that is a £45.44m-£49.44m package <yikes> He is currently 28 and no one really wants to pay the £8m-£12m fee now, what would we get for him in two/three years when he's 30/31...? The is no way FSG will go for this unless it guaranteed CL football which it doesn't! Can't say I would be keen for us to go for this either when looking at the numbers <ok>

We could not afford Sneijder, even if there is contact, we wouldn't offer more than about £90k I imagine.

  16. Even a poor Sneijder would be better than some of the options we have at the minute, he would never be a Joe Cole <doh>

PS...similar to Gerrard, he clearly isn't what he was and shouldn't be playing every minute like he is but he's still head and shoulders above our other midfielders baring Lucas <ok>

Still makes you wonder if we actually have scouts out there doing any work. Think the steals are there just have to look past Britain.

  18. Maybe Inter will do with Sniejder what we've just done with West Ham and Joe Cole <whistle>

I think an experience player like Sneijder could be very beneficial to our young squad.

He is a top player who has played for top clubs, won league titles, played in the champions league, played in the World Cup final.

The young players can look up to him and learn from him.

It was an extreme example! <laugh> But the underlying point is that we may splash out millions on wages for a player who underperforms, and then be tied into another long contract. I think the owners may be tempted if we got him on a loan or a 1-2 year deal?
