Toppy the Supreme is a right old puzzle as usual. I'm wondering whether Jezki and Puffin Billy may both be ground dependent and I'm not even sure we've seen Henderson's best yet. The fly in the ointment may well be Dodging Bullets - when was the last time we had such an experienced, battle-hardened runner in the Supreme? I do think the world of Melodic Rendezvous though ......................
We will see how good he is next time out at NHHQ Toppy. I hope something decent takes him on. I cant believe you didnt value his form before Saturday afternoon, a rare error of judgement on your part ;-)
Well the performances I have always liked- he stays strongly and travels well. However from a form perspective you have to say Village Vic hardly advertised it, so that was my logic in termof where he fits into the bigger picture. My error of judgment was the opposition on Saturday- he was leagues ahead! You're in a great position though on 16/1 and from there you certainly have a great live chance going into the race and the option to cover yourself
That My Tent Or Yours would be a bloody monster if he wasn't such a lunatic. When he learns to calm down and settle he will be some hurdler. He reminds me an awful, awful lot of Sprinter Sacre, bar the scope and size. Melodic Renezvous is nice but I think he tends to relish the softer conditions. Think he will find a couple too good. Has Henderson, or indeed Nicholls got much ammunition left to come out?
I really like Cause Of Causes, he seems to be at home in big fields off a strong pace, so the County would be race for him imo. Elliot has mentioned the Supreme but he might find one or two too good in that and I think he would be better off going for the handicap. 14s could a good e/w bet, he wouldnt have been suited by that 3 horses false race today but he managed to overcome it and win, he is improving, he travels really well and finds plenty for pressure, he looks tailor made for a Cheltenham handicap. Looking through the betting for the Supreme, it dosent look the strongest renewal and I certainly cant see a better 20/1 shot in it.
I'm a fan of the horse but surely he'd find a few too good in the Supreme? I agree he does looks tailor made for a Cheltenham Handicap.
Does anyone know what's going on with Boston Bob for the RSA? Not been seen since before Xmas when he won a novice chase at Navan. I've checked the entries but nothing except for the RSA. I've backed him at 12s and 10s then again at 8s. He drifted back out to 10s on betfair and with ladbrokes but now over the weekend he has been shortened into 7s again. Bit confused!
The Ryanair could be the race of the festival in my eyes. Especially if team Sizing Europe don't think they can get to Sprinter Sacre.
Fluctuations probably due to there not being much money in the market at the moment. A point or two here on there on Betfair is nothing to get over-excited about. If there was something amiss he'd be out at 20s
Thanks oddy. I'm more so looking to see if anyone has any info about his next appearance. Not entered anywhere, I would prefer him to have at least 1 more outing before the RSA!
He's entered on Thursday at Thurles: http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/...al-european-breeders-fund-novice-steeplechase
Excellent, thanks Oddy. I was checking the sky sports entry list, as all other sites banned in work. Cheers for your help.
This confuses me Stick, though that dosnt take much... PadPow have the Supreme AP betting as The New One @ 20/1 and Puffin Billy @ 10/1, but... In the Neptune have them closer with The New One @ 5/1 and Puffing @ 8/1... I was only looking at TNO with all the reports going on about him and all that and then saw your comment... The odds would suggest that TNO would be targeting the Neptune and Puffin at the Supreme... Or am i reading into this wrong... Any thoughts would be helpful...
Interesting to see Bostonbob entered in the Arkle...be surprised if he ran in that tbh. I would imagine he'd be aimed at the Dr PJ Moriarty 'chase on Hennessy day in February with a run in a lesser novice event somewhere inbetween. It's also a G1 and also at Leopardstown but over 2m5f and traditionally the race top Irish RSA contenders compete in.
I think the bookies have a notion that Sherwood may choose to swerve THE NEW ONE and go for the slightly softer looking Supreme. Unless the weekends performance changed Sherwoods mind I believe that is not the case. They both go for the Neptune. THE NEW ONE goes to Cheltenham a week Saturday for his final prep, I imagine that Sherwood will be watching it as eagerly as Twisters. Awesome having two such talented youngsters not trained by Nicholls or Hendo! OLIVER SHERWOOD is leaning towards running the unbeaten Puffin Billy in the Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle, not the Supreme Novices' Hurdle, at the Cheltenham Festival. Sherwood revealed his preference in a stable tour appearing in Wednesday's Weekender. The five-year-old, who brought his run of wins to four with a comfortable Grade 2 win at Ascot last month, is as short as 8-1 second favourite for the Supreme over 2m ½f and 10-1 joint third favourite for the Neptune over 2m 5f. Sherwood said: "So far he has only been running on ground with plenty of give which brings his stamina into play and I am leaning towards aiming him at the Neptune Hurdle rather than the Supreme. "I am sure he would get the longer trip and be comfortable at that speed before quickening, whereas I am concerned they might get him at it too soon in the Supreme, though we will decide after his next run." Puffin Billy is likely to make his next appearance at Haydock on Saturday January 19, Sherwood added, although he also has the option of a race at Cheltenham's Trials Day the following weekend. "[He] will probably still be over two miles in the Rossington Main Hurdle at Haydock, which we won with Cruising Altitude in the past, as I want him to be comfortable running at speed before Cheltenham, where they go half a gear faster than anywhere else all year," he said. "That said, we have the option of stepping him up to 2m4f at Cheltenham’s trials meeting later this month."
