Here is the index to all ante-post portfolios. Feel free to start you own thread (as Namned has) and I'll add it to the index. Or just add your portfolio below. Namned BrigadierGerard DreverSpur
Don't think mine warrants it's own thread but here goes: Go Native (RIP) small e/w at 25/1 Champion Hurdle - sadly he won't make it ................. Medium sized bet on Big Bucks at 5/6 World Hurdle - reinvested some winnings with the intention of giving me something to bet with on Gold Cup day .............. oh well Small e/w on Overturn for the Arkle at 8/1 ................. just for interest really Reasonably sized win and e/w on Flemenstar CGC at 9/1 (placed before the John Durkan) ........................ yes, well, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Reasonably sized win bet on Hurricane Fly at 9/2 - just about the only one I'm reasonably happy with as the price has long gone and I think he'll take all the beating. Can't see him going off much shorter than 5/2 on the day though.
Nice one Oddy, you have some value on Overturn as well. I'm on at 7s, but if does win we also hopefully get feedback on
Hardly a portfolio but the only bet I have down is Kashmir Peak 33/1 for the Triumph Hurdle (16/1 best now)
Put money on Zarkander in the champion hurdle after last years festival at 16's. There a few others I fancy but it's been difficult to follow the Racing the past couple of years, slowly getting more time back now though.
I have a bet down on captain chris for the gold cup at about 100-1 on betfair, which was placed in late september. I think that the 25-1+ that is available still represents value.
I took a speculative punt on the Champion Hurdle early in the season with Monksland at 80/1. I still think Noel Meade was heading there until the defection of Big Bucks. I may take 8/1 on Monksland for the World Hurdle as I think he is still improving and will relish good spring ground in March. I have taken Peddlers Cross at 50/1 with the logic that Cinders and Ashes has been below form and Peddlers is returning in a Champion Hurdle trial which might force McCains hand. He was hammered by Sprinter Sacre and then clearly was not himself at Cheltenham, but I think McCain may have saved him by giving him a massive break and returning to hurdles. He was tailor made for them.
Anybody think 9/4 for the Sprinter Sacre // Simonsig double is worth a dabble? To me SS should be 1/5 and with Simonsig currently around EVS this feels too big
They're just offering the double as a special bet Stick ................. can't combine it with anything else. Severely tempted to lump on. Let's see if I can build up some winnings tomorrow to play with ...................
Long Run 8/1 e/w - Never been out the 1st 3 so guarenteed return! Binocular- 25/1 e/w just more for sentiment really! As well as a big e/w bet on Hurricane Fly at 9/2
Just the one so far, Countrywide Flame @ 33s in the Champion Hurdle. Yes it's gonna be tough but this little fella is seriously underated IMHO. 33s was just too big
Did the following in an E/W Lucky 15 Boston Bob @ 7/1 RSA Chase Captain Conan @ 8/1 Arkle Chase Zarkandar @ 7/1 Champion Hurdle Silviniaco Conti @ 13/2 Cheltenham Gold Cup
I've also backed Son Of Flicka 33/1 for the Coral Cup. Won the race last year and is as clear as day being lined up for another punt at the Festival. Can't see why he wouldn't go to the CC again.
Every year I say "no more ante post", and every January I crack. Had an e/w double on Grandouet in the CH and Overturn in the Arkle, both at 7/1.
I dont see a lot of value in any of the Cheltenham ante post markets at present especially with the leading players in the biig races. Yeah sure there's some value with some of the outsiders but there are a lot where you cant be certain which race they will actually line up in! With that uncertainty and ground and jockeys uncertain its just to many ifs and buts for me! Its hard enough picking winners at Cheltenham so my advice keep your money in the pocket until the morning and get on then!!
Have to say Stick in my mind he will do well to win a Neptune hurdle. I think he was visually impressive more than anything on Saturday, with Twisters saying the same. He's certainly worth his place. That said though, the Neptune doen't seem choc full of superstars at the moment. The Gigginstown horse looked nice though last Sunday. Think it is a wide open race and you certainly took the right side of the price on him! Anyone sweet for a Supreme Novice horse or do we think Jezki looks a good thing?
