-------------------Boruc Clyne-----Yoshida-----Hooiveld-----Fox -----------Morgan-----Cork -----------------Ramirez Puncheon--------------------------Guly ----------------Rodriguez Lambert was given the freedom of Villa Park to do what he liked, which he won't get against Chelsea. Despite having a good game against Villa, the only time he looked like scoring was running up to the penalty spot. Chelsea would ruin us if we played 442 and as Chelsea are unlikely to give us much, we need to take advantage of quick breaks. If we try to play through Lambert, they'll just cut him off and we'll be stuck. Terry, Cahill and Ivanovic know what they're doing and won't give Lambert an inch. This game needs Rodriguez to run at them.
Wouldnt be too suprised to see Shaw play, apparently it was a flesh injury so shouldnt be swelling or any pulled muscles. Dont think adkins would risk him if there was any doubt though. Lets hope he is back though.
Well, if Shaw is around.... Boruc; Clyne, Yoshida, Hooiveld, Shaw; Cork, Schneiderlin, Davis; Puncheon, Lambert, Ramirez. Not entirely sure in all honesty!
I think if we get an early goal, it could be interesting. Their fans are complete ****e and will be right on the players and managers back if we can nick one.
I would stick with what we played at Villa. The fact is, we are not good enough at defending to try and grind out a draw/counter-attack. We need to go for it to stand a chance. Although QPR managed to do it, but that was one of the luckiest results I have ever seen...
=================Boruc================= ===================================== ==Clyne====Yoshida========Hooived======Fox== ====================================== ==============Schneiderlin================ =======Davis===============Cork========= ===================================== ==Puncheon======================Guly==== ===============Lambert================= Very difficult game. 4-0 Chelsea.
If we can not conceede early or even nick one then the crowd will get on their backs big time. It could be the lucky match against one of the top teams we could get something from. I would go with J rod up front and bring Rickie on after the break like we did at Citeh.
Why is fox a figure of hate this season? I know he made some howlers early on but didn't everyone? Hoover gave away pens and was slow, fonte had some nightmare games etc. Weaker in defence than shaw but imo more of a menace going forward, good crosser and nice set pieces/corners. Surely if guly plays he can help out more defending on the left side? ---------------------Boruc---------------- Clyne-------Yoshi-------Hoover-------Fox ----------Spider---------Cork------------ Punch-------------------------------Guly ----------------Lambert------------------ -----------------J-Rod-------------------- Would obviously like to have Gaston but is a doubt. Think J-Rods work rate up top will be important and am going for guly on the left. We played well against stoke without gaston, different team completely but on balance these are the players I'd pick.
Agreed. We need to compete for every 50-50 ball, pressure the them the way we did Arsenal, and not allow them any room to start passing it about.
This is what I'd rather see but I think Richardson is injured again so Fox will have to go LB. Can't see Guly being involved either so put Lambert up front and Rodriguez down the wing.
I'm sure that's what someone said the other day. He has been quite a regular in the squad when fit, so it appears to me anyway.
Thing is Adkins needs to rest players at the Chelsea match but not pi_ss off any supporters too much who are going to the game. It's a fine line. May as well put Ward-Prowse, Steven Davis and Danny Fox in, park the bus for 90 mins and say Ramirez "has a dead leg" and Lallana is "still recovering from injury" and Shaw is "still recovering".
