* Kos for Per was another mistake by Wenger (as was the case in the Chelsea home game earlier this season), Per has largely not put a foot wrong this season and Kos has had a poor season * Diaby wasn't ready to play...looked really rusty which was evidence that the squad isn't strong enough if he was chosen * Cazorla is sloppy...fantastic talent but gives possession away cheaply and very little quality with his final ball * Giroud is enthusiastic but also wasteful...touch is too heavy and had 1-2 great chances to score but he completely fluffed his lines...not good enough to lead the line based on the evidence thus far * TV is an average defender and weak captain! Where was the rallying cry to help raise the spirits and fight. * Free kicks were wasted which was vital to us down to 10 men...do they even practice set pieces because it doesn't seem as though they do? * Man City are very good side but we really lack the ability to win possession back, we rely more on mistakes by the opposition....need some true defensive midfielders * Only bright spot was Jack his effort and industry is head and shoulders above the rest of the team
Generally agree withe the OP except TV is a good defender and others had a good game. Podolski, Mertesaker and Ramsey all had good games as well. In fact I would have preferred Pod stayed on instead of Giroud replacing him.
Great saves by Szczesny from the penalty and the Tevez one-on-one as well. Also Sagna was bloody excellent, back to his old self. As for the negatives, well the first post sums it up well.
As you know from my previous form, I am never hopeful when Mike Dean is the referee, NEVER. I just feel that the statistical evidence against this man has got to a point where you simply cannot ignore it. You can say that the red card was the right call all you like, but if it happened the other end and a City player had been sent off for the same foul then people would be using it to prove that he wasn't biased as well. I just don't think that given the statistical probability that we lost this game simply because of the biased ref, that we should make judgements on what to do with the team. I'm not saying that any of you are wrong, I'm just saying I don't think this game proves anything.
Thinking abou it, its not that bad a result today considering that we had 10 men for 85 minutes, but overall I think we would agree that we are not at the usual standard we expect from Arsenal this year. So the question is what can we do to improve and do we need new players? Its taken a while but Ramseys now started to look nearer the player he was before he was hacked down by that thug. He cant be blamed for that happening though. If Ramsey continues to recover from his injury and he and Wilshere can build a decent partnership I think they could make a great CM pairing in a 4-4-2. Add Walcott and Podolski as the front 2, Ox and Cazorla on the wings and we'll have a midfield of 4 players who all do their part defending which will improve our all round defending and a target man who gets stuck in and is a good player in Podolski with Theo's pace to play off him.
Good point. Both those players have the sufficient engines to play in a two man midfield. Also upfront, I think it would be better to have Walcott playing off Giroud rather than him playing upfront on his own.
I think the comment was entirely justified. Wenger's tyrannical regime has to end, he must be sacked. Sic semper tyrannis!!!!
CFC fan in peace. For what it's worth I thought that for 10 men most of the match you played well - definitely up for it, no heads down etc. You lost through a couple of defensive mistakes otherwise you would have had a respectable 0-0. I'd be *issed off too if it was us but crap happens - move on, you are a decent side and even decent sides have bad days at the office. We've had a few this season!
yeah but them defensive mistakes are now far too regular. It aint no blip. Its seems to be De Rigeur these days .
We replaced the best striker in the league with Giroud, who misses sitters far too frequently to be considered the answer to our problems. We need to bring in more firepower. Wenger will not do this because of his senility. Shame
