Sturridge looks like a good fit to our system. 2 goals in 2 games....not bad considering he's not 100% match fit - very good early signs. Surely Suarez and Sturridge have to be starting every game from now on. I would stick with the 4-3-3 though, rather than 4-4-2 like BR played in the second half. Forget the result. I'm optimistic about our attacking options now. A real quality play maker now please Brendan, and we'll be a quality outfit. Lets be optimistic, it was never going to be easy away to Utd. please log in to view this image
First half - Abysmal Second half - Encouraging Pretty much sums it up, but we expected a loss so not a big deal, really. As for Sturridge, he was superb. Always looked a threat when ever he got on the ball, was always looking to get in behind, and he linked up well with Suarez and others. Couldn't of asked for more from him.
adds more quality to the side,of which there is little enough. borini looked poor but he has to be given a few games to be fit. y his wing i nthe second half was rarely occupied... all in all if we can keep adding quality it'll help
Yeah we're miles off United and we know that. We need to take the positives, learn, and bin/sign a few players to get better. And yes, thought Sturridge would be a good signing, and I still think that. Great start to his Liverpool career.
his job, get goals, 1 a game so far but.. you'll say but but but but but but but. But the poncho mate
His shooting needs work. We know that, Brendan knows that. That will be sorted in training..... 2 goals in 2 is a great start though
Suarez, Borini, Sturridge, Sterling.... plus a few others, youngsters etc.. So many more options than we've had recently.
think you might be over exaggerating what I've said there. He has great movement (see his poacher goal) and can see a pass but when he gets a goal scoring position he often spoons it. Look at today, It bundled to him corner of the six yard box and he blasted it over the bar. He ran in from the left of the box and hit it about five yards wide, He's really wasteful.
so better than wellbeck then eh? saw him being fairly average there mate.... anyway... tactically the messgae if ther eis one is not sinking in. shape is just being lost too easily and palyers like downing really didn't help by being awol and letting utd run riot down his wing. sterling was woeful. he just is so predictable... get the ball. hold it, hold it hold it.. dribble it, lose it... the amount of times he had and easy postive pass on to give and go even was tragic.. he was just down a blind alley and frankly utd ate him up. in the enxt few weeks i expect us to improve as we get the new boy in and if he links that well with surez and by extension gerrard you've got someting to build on
Sterling has been poor for a while really, he's been overplayed and has suffered because of it. He's not had time to really learn from what he's doing and to change so he's just doing the same things but slower and thinking too much on the pitch rather than thinking off it. BR's fault mostly. He's had Suso available and not used him to rotate with Sterling well enough to progress them both. He's had Assaidi available and ignored him. I hope he's not stunted Raheem's progress too much and now with Sturridge and Borini, maybe he can be an impact sub again and learn properly.
I didn't want Sturridge (mainly because of the velcro) but also said he would do well if he joined. Two in two is pretty good going, not sure how many shots he's had but I'd guess at around eight (3 @ Stags & 5 today) which gives him about a 25% conversion rate, much better than Suarez's 12% (this is a guess too)
