I never went yesterday due to being at a wedding. I still ended up in the doghouse with her indoors though, I sloped off during the speeches to watch the game on the goggle box in the hotel bar. What more does she want from me?
I'm quite a fan of this one. please log in to view this image # True aficionados will already have this link...http://www.furnitureporn.com/
Don't get down to much, this was one game, similar to the Peterboro match that we got caught out. Credit to SW to setting up well which stopped us playing. It does throw up the question of having 2 weeks between games for the majority of players, would it have been better to have played to a large degree a normal side against Orient, with one or two changes, to keep the momentum going, and was that lost with this length of time between games?
IF you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream - and not make dreams your master; If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools: If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!' If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, ' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch, if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
Just logged in today and this is the first thread I have read. I guess that means there are a few posters moaning on other threads. I went to the game and was in East Stand but although people were frustrated with the mistakes I did not hear anyone saying "Bruce out" or any other such nonsense. I got the impression most people thought it was just one of those days, we still stood and clapped the players off the pitch. Unfortunately for the GK his mistakes resulted in goals but there wasn't a single player on that pitch who didn't make mistakes and have passes go straight to the opposition. Luckily the other results went our way, dont' like Leicester creeping up behind us but oh well lets just hope we can get back to normal for the next league game.
A tough watch yesterday wasn't it? A solid blow to the face on a cold, crisp evening. As an attendee, I felt Sheff Wed physically bossed us, aided by our uncharacteristic sloppiness on the ball. I think this is how most teams will play against us at home for the remainder of the season, I'm sure we will learn to deal with it. The minor handbags in the crowd with the police was an occasional welcome distraction from a difficult match. The young lad who stands next to me was like a ****ing meerkat all game, trying to get a view of some small scale scuffle. I'd estimate 80% of any gametime is spent by him staring permanently at the away fans, desperate to see something kick off, when it rarely does. I can feel his breath on my face sometimes as he's stood there, transfixed, open mouthed, inane in expression. Annoys the **** out of me the little ****. I actually had to stretch to catch a glimpse of the action in their pen box in the second half just so I could see round his ****ing 'ead. What is the point? Anyway, good chance for some revenge against Posh next time out, can't let them get away with that early season beating too easily.
Completely agree, although it doesn't apply to this game as those watching on tv actually get a better view, specifically of the controversial decisions which will have been replayed numerous times.
i dont want to add to the jak flak, but to be fair even in the games he has kept a clean sheet, i think he has dropped one like that in nearly every game, just has been lucky that hes been on the right side of the line and has usually been able to grasp it at the 2nd time, last night has been coming.. not sure ive seen anybody say bruce out, if they have they are clearly a bit mental.
I'd like to think I have a good knowledge of us even if I can't get to games, I have Tigers Player and I suppose I know as much as anybody else about football. I can pass judgement on that game and any others that I've seen, in fact not being there gives me an advantage as I can watch endless replays and so on like the football geek I am. I noticed Agro was defending Jakupovic, it's just been reported in the Fail (whether thats worth anything ) that he is completely fine, maybe people are right to be pissed off with him given his reaction to a ****up is pretending to be seriously injured
Got to admit when I saw him go down I did think it was just sheer embarrassment but then to remain down for so long and have all those people in attendance, surely he is not that good an actor, maybe made a bit more of it cos he just couldn't face carrying on.
Having a look on Facebook this morning and you'd be forgiven for thinking we've just been relegated. Last night we were dire, Not just one or two, But almost Everyone. Wednesday came with a game plan, and as Party said they physically bossed us. The performance i'm sure was a one off, What was more worrying was the fact that we only got 16k for a home derby.
Our manager seems to respond to results (good and bad) in a thoughtful and measured way - unlike a lot of the drama queens who post ill considered tripe when we lose our first league game in ages. Our league position is clear evidence that we have a very capable team. Unfortunately, last night we played dreadfully and there were only the briefest glimpses of the considered, fast, passing-to-feet game which has delighted us and won points. It looked as if our players lost the confidence to play that way and we allowed Wednesday to force us into crap, thoughtless attempts to pass which, all too often gave possession away. Doubtless Steve Bruce will have words, and I hope we get back on form again as soon as poss! Don't panic! UTT!
One good thing about yesterday is that the rest of the teams around us apart from Leicester also lost. We are still second by 2 points. It also goes to show that we can not underestimate any one in this league. Sheffield are probably one of the first teams this season that have actually given us a good game at home this season. We know now more than ever what we need, a proven goalscorer and a solid GK. Thats a certainty, if we want to gain automatic promotion. If we keep going on 8 unbeaten runs and losing 1 inbetween all season, than im happy with that! UTT
The reaction to yesterday’s defeat is appalling; the venom displayed towards Jako is well out of proportion and stains the people doing it. Anyone who has seen it on Sky can see a big knock to his face; clearly it takes some broken bone: eye socket, nose, jaw, to merit an injury. The first goal was a very well taken free kick that had their man off-side; a save was possible, but it would have been a blinder. The commentators said he could have done better with it, but they never even picked up on the off-side, that was Beagrie at half-time. The wrongly disallowed goal he never got to grips with and yes, I think he was unsettled after the first. The second goal was a disaster, a total cluster-****; he will struggle to live that one down. The third goal Oxley never had a chance, well perhaps a well-timed rugby tackle, but that was about it. Look to the out-field players – all of them! Their passing was appalling, their runs were ill timed, we were infantile in defence and toothless in attack, we missed a penalty and gave neither GK an ounce of cover or confidence; but no, it was all Jako’s fault. He never feigned injury, but I think a lot of supporters feign football nous, or so it seems reading the boards.
Im pretty sure he was faking his injury , the only thing hurting was his pride , im not bothered about the goals conceded , **** happens and it would be wrong to expect easy rides till the end of the season . The keeper just laid there and had no interest in getting up , dusting himself down and getting on with it . To cap it off he then proceeded to waste medical staffs time at HRI , it may be harsh but thats my take on it .
