I just have to say that this lad has coped remarkably well with all the criticism & brickbats thrown his way in recent months. It would have been the easy option to let his head go down & fade away. Instead he's fought & fought, even when the team has not been playing well - this at a time when he seemed to be enemy number one for some fans, even when some the fans favourites have hidden in their shells. All I'll say to James McClean is keep on doing what you're doing.
Cannot knock him for his endeavour but I feel there are better players we could get and use JM as an impact sub.
Yes I fully agree with that. James is becoming a player who I'd be very happy to have around the club for a long time. His game has improved throughout this season which is all the more impressive considering the club have had a difficult first half to the season. The lad has settled with a nice lass that he has been with for a long-time so he looks stable and commited to his work. Besides Fletcher, I'd say that McClean has the best shot on target at the club. Impressed and I'm positive about the lads future at the club.
100% correct and agreed with. McClean should be a 15 min impact sub imo and nothing more and if we are to grow and develop we need far, far better quality in the team. He works hard and has a good attitude but is very limited in ability.
By the way, I was not suggesting, by any means, he is the greatest; it's just sometimes you have to acknowledge a player for his endeavour & commitment. He may never become our star man but he is the type of player that we, and every other club, needs. Some games you need to grind out a result through your efforts & I think he is the type of player who can help you achieve that.
Mcclean had a fantastic 1st season and that rose expectations for him this time around. He came from a small Irish team and has made the step up look bloody easy. He hasnt had a fantastic 2nd season but he has done ok I expect he will learn more as the season progresses and the time to judge him will be this time next season. Also, the lack of confidence throughout the team up to now, has left Sess struggling never mind a lad who is is second season outside of Derry.... IMO we'll see a better player in Mcclean as team confidence improves.
